I'm sharing the more humerous call of what amounts to about 20+ years of weekly and at times near daily calls, visits, requests for stuff, then as I'm setting things up deciding it isn't needed. Guess it's reaching a tipping point, so yea, this plus at least a 1000 other ones over that time period...

We can call it the "straw that's breaking my back". Every (and I mean every) chat about technology ends the same way, an accusation of personal attack...

when "cheapest price" rules, it's a race to the bottom. It devalues everyone. It makes it hard for the more experienced people to receive fair compensation, and in time for those who are "bottom pricing" they can't get out of it.

The only winner is the buyer, of course this is said with a massive assumption that the quality of output is comparable.

I'm a 46 year old, changing careers from PM/BA into Dev (mobile), with mortgage/family/aging parents. It's brutal. But for me, I just can't continue working in a none-creative way, it was killing me to essientally be a paper pusher and argument arbitrator.

This is the world we find ourselves in. I hate saying it, but as long as someone is willing to sell their skill cheap, it's ALWAYS a race to the bottom.

To resolve this "minor" inconvienance I had to download a near 6 gig file (xCode 9 beta 2), uncompress, drill the file structure to find that little nugget of gold; a file folder called 11.2 (build#). Then copy to the xCode I'm using, climb down the rabbit hole of file hiearchy. paste it, re-run xcode and wait as it does it's magical thing. You know "the thing", when everything stops, and it looks around going "ohhh something changed"....

All told 45 minutes of manual labour for a task that is ripe for automation. I mean, even in the preferences you can go to components and "Check and Install Now"...

I'm left with only this thought that some kind of trickster must be spearheading the decision making at apple for how their flagship dev tool should behave/evolve.

I do like my apple products, but in the hunt for key features, and massive earth shattering innovation (overused term), they seemingly have left refinements and the concept of continuity in roadside gutter.

@Torbuntu you are correct. I should just drop the coffee altogether.
