Hey happy birthday! And thanks for your wisdom, some of them kinda hit deep!!
-
@infernalempress it's Firefox Dev (love the Dev tools on this) and VS Code for coding (I love linting and auto-beautify)!!
-
@infernalempress you use vim for web-dev?? WOAH!!
-
This seems like a lot of pointless work!!
-
Woah!! What kind of a project is this, are the clients that rich to stop a project after an year of effort into it!!
-
It depends on the type and size of the company you are working in. Most small companies (startups, or companies with less than 10-person teams) will expect you to have an overall knowledge of the whole development process. But if you work in large corporates or mid-to-large sized companies, your responsibilities will be very focused, and there will be separate teams/department handling each aspect of a development process.
-
Love the idea, it's awesome.
Maybe work on your colours a bit (looks too contrasty!), I dunno maybe you were trying to go for a whole fun, multi-color vibe. U knw just ma 2 cents!! -
Care to elaborate on this, how did achieve the UI customization on Firefox?
-
Sounds awesome!!
Will definitely try it. -
Found this reddit link on @uyouthe 's article, sounds useful.

I would like to get more insights onto this rant, sounds interesting.
-
OMG! Reading your comments, I have the exact same issue. I go bonkers when I have to work with another dev (some of the FE devs working with me, don't lint, don't comment, and make a ton of spelling mistakes). Man it's crazy.
-
I have always used flex for pretty much everything, even though I was aware of the grid and the column properties. I should start using those!!
-
@NEMESISprj yeah pocket (https://app.getpocket.com/)
-
Try using GetPocket, you can categorize the links by tags (and then later search for them) it already shows the link previews, you can also setup email notifications (so you get a sort of a newsletter-like email with a list of your saved links for the week).
Plus you can use it's free extension, makes life so easy! -
@theabbie yeah have to agree with you on that. Although Material Design provides great guidelines to design mobile-friendly interfaces, it's kin of a hit-and-miss on desktops though.
-
@N00bPancakes you mean the FAB (Floating Action Button)? I don't thing that it is a mandated rule you have to use it (it's just an option)
-
The maximum I go is about 8 hours continuously (maybe a bit less than that, 7.2 or something).
The only time I did like 10-12 hours was for my personal project. -
Congrats and Good luck dude!
-
I think you should stick to only middle-end, get it :-)🤣
-
@penless yeah what the hell is that, I mean don't some companies expect you to have a deep knowledge of a stack. I think it's utter bullshit, @AmyShackles good you missed a bullet, these are red flags.
-
WOAH I just realized this, my parents used to nag me whenever I sit infront of a screen (TV/Laptop/PC/etc.), but it kinda stopped a couple years back (maybe when I turned 18 or when I started my career in Tech), I never realized it until now."
But although I do get the occasional nag from my mum, when I stare at my screen overnight (I might have to agree with her on that, I do have too much screen time, its not good on my eyes!!) -
@orimligt yeah even I would like to know how they responded @AmyShackles?
-
@Root 📌tactical dot right here
-
@EDragon Jewelry Designer sounds like a great career, I dunno how good you are but you should try that (if you wish to) and keep the dev job as a side hustle (or the other way around, totally upto you :-) ), Why don't you try putting up/selling your designs online (try etsy.com maybe).
-
After reading through this @Root I have total respect for you, hope you are way better in life than your parents ever hope for you to be. We gotta rise above the naysayers and the negativity in our life, I think that is true in your case. Good luck!!
-
@RTRMS wow! It would be nice to be in your position man. I think you are far up in your career (a senior/principal dev maybe?) that the management actually listens to you!
-
@Edragon have to agree with @Wisecrack, in order to successfully run a web services business (or any business for that), you need to know how to make a sale (or at least be a bit of a people person), or try to employ or partner with someone with a background in sales/management/marketing. Because no matter how good your product it, if you don't market it properly (to ultimately get customers/clients and sell them), it would be useless.
Just my 2 cents.... -
@stackodev I like the reference to an impending armageddon
-
@Root wait... these are offensive words 😇. Whaat???
