Did you by any chance mean you got a new computer? You see at my work, they don't replace only the CPU of the workstations, but they tend to switch out all the components, RAM, supporting chipsets, motherboard... Heck, they even change the casing as well!

Not sure if bash has this as well, but the up/down arrows in cmd does some freaky shit that I never understand. I'm sure there is a logic to it that I just haven't picked up on yet.
