You know, I'm getting tired of this HR-speak in job applications, specifically this:
- [tech] has no secrets for you
What, really? So I am the undisputed and absolute expert of - let's say - JavaScript? Do you know how long it takes to master that so that it holds no secrets? It even holds secrets to decade-long experts! The same goes for most other technologies in software development.
Sigh. Hhhhh. Ree.9 -
Got fed up with my newcomer PO's bullshit planning and constant gaslighting whenever deadlines get missed.
Made a spreadsheet showing our actual capacity vs his unrealistic expectations - turns out all of Q3 work is spilling into Q4, so I'll be spending October finishing July/August/September tasks.
Brought this up multiple times asking for more time or resources. Got denied and blamed instead.
It got really bad to the point where I had to start doing his work for him - make business decisions, create tickets, define acceptance criteria, requirements and etc. Just so I would have some paper trail so that I wouldnt get blamed again in case I'm missing some undefined requirement. Finally couldn't take it anymore and escalated to my dev lead.
Now the PO is getting absolutely chewed out. Feels fucking good to finally see him face consequences for their terrible planning.
On another note - is it a disease or do the most useless people just naturally gravitate toward management positions? For example, this guy is supposed to be a decision maker but answers almost every business question vaguely, ambiguously, or just straight up ignores it. How the fuck such people even exist, it just blows my mind.3 -
the scariest part about the worldwide musical degeneracy propaganda campaign is that people are doing it of their own accord. there is no hand pulling the strings behind the scenes.
also, since when exposed labea majora become synonymous to music? this shit is repulsive.5 -
It’s so sad that this “Auth for Google authenticator” app whose logo definitely doesn’t try to impersonate google with a similar color scheme, with in-app purchases, is allowed to exist, while Lensflare’s JoyRant isn’t.8

You are considered a junior developer when you need 'a lot of hand-holding'. Now, I can figure out most things on my own, but how do you distinguish between 'needs too much hand-holding and therefore is a junior' and 'does ok and therefore is a medior'?
For example, I can do well on basic things and getting projects set up, but then I might need more help if errors truly become too cryptic or difficult to solve and I haven't found solutions. A few examples here:
- having messed up the git branches and releases so much that you need someone with a deep knowledge and troubleshooting of git to set the situation straight
- spending a week on trying to figure out why Azure doesn't want to successfully build your super custom build and it takes ages to figure it out because it requires in-depth Docker, linux knowledge and stellar, MIT-level troubleshooting and analytical skills
And so, someone who needs help with these is considered a junior?
How do you really identify a junior? Seems vague.9 -
I wonder if the same reason I dislike playing board games will be of benefit to me in a cult
the problem with human made rules is I can follow them yet break them and win the game that way. hacker mindset. can't help it
wonder if they'll get mad and be like "you can't do that!" like the board game people keep ruining it for me. I only find non-perfectly balanced video games fun also -- fuck those spreadsheet game designers for taking the fun out of strategy I swear
this is why I love software made games though. provided it's a decent one that's not too well-balanced and I don't end up in a snore-fest as consequence. all is fair in love and war. nobody cries "foul!". if you can do it it's now part of the game!
they asked for it 🥺
I guess it's malicious compliance energy but I'm not malicious... I'm just witty and cute 🥺
a cult about sovereignty, mentioning you can just ignore what isn't in your benefit... yet has a oath thing. I mean I guess it's fine
what do you do when you see bug-holes like that?1 -
I hate 2FA, solving a problem I don't have. I expect it rather to lock me out some day than actually helping me.
Just subscribed to a service, pissed that I couldn't use a simple password and had to do one of those impossible ones making you store it in a Keychain or making you the forget-button dozens of times. Activated account, and then it wanted you to do the 2-FA as well.
Do realize, my freaking bank has just a four digit code weirdos!5 -
Randomly, I have to make a selfie when transferring money using the bank, even for 70,-. But very random. I make a joke of it by looking mad in the camera while smoking a sigarette. But damn, what the fuck, like, when was voted for shit like this? Nobody would EVER agree to such shit right? All those tippy tappy things we worry about for privacy but I just literally made a selfie for my bank transaction (ironically it was for smth not legal). Guys, this will get abused the fuck out of one day. They're automated building a report against you. A log, with pictures and accounts and amounts. Hmm, why do you send z, y or z directly to a person? That person was once in jail, hmm, let's see all transactions..
We're so fucked.23 -
