Awesome for js dev. Light and fast compared to atom and webstorm. And a good js debugger which is a godsent compared to what I had to deal with in webstorm.
-
Now go learn how to pronounce his first name.
-
It's pronounced Dikestra/dykestra
Where the i sounds like the i in dice
And the a sounds like the a in gorilla.
Source: Dutch speaker. -
Oh man. I love that echo banana. If I ever have to make a screenshot of code I'm going to put that in there.
-
What? You mean you guys don't always assign your variables twice just to be sure?
var foo = 3
// i said 3 dammit
foo = 3 -
Just an idea: resize the window until you have a portrait like window.
If it's responsive enough.. Take a screenshot with a chrome extension that screenshots the entire page.
Print that -
I've observed people and their framework choice for a while. It almost seems like it's a personality thing.
Angular2: You really like enterprisey stuff.
React: You like to run with the cool kids, whoever they are right now.
VueJS: You like to run with the cool kids, but not those cool kids.
Aurelia: You like neat boxes that have all the nuts and bolts included.
Cyclejs: Damn these kids trying to be cool, I'll show ya.
Elm: Shave your beard, you damn hipster. -
@meain I don't like rebooting and losing my session.
VMs are convenient because I can pause them whenever I want. And I can create and keep as many as I want.
For most things I don't see a noticeable performance penalty.
I would consider using a hypervisor on a nice server rack though. But that's expensive. -
@LucaScorpion Holy shit. Small world.
I've never actually been in that building though. They were still constructing it when I finished. We were stuck in the old and dark Minaert
Btw. Get some sleep man. Don't you have class tomorrow? -
You used to be able to order these CDs for free from Ubuntu/Canonical
I would order a bunch every year to give to people and being super excited to see the new cover they designed this time around. -
You might have found the Yoda of programming. Stick close to this person.
Son of Jay, output you must -
@LucaScorpion I just noticed this looks incredibly like where I studied. And you're from the Netherlands too!
Is this Utrecht? -
@tatocaster @deadlyRants I was just kidding.
I run Windows on my PC so I can play games. Most of my dev work is done in vms. -
@BikerMouse My man!
-
And so the editor wars rage on.
Each side unwilling to acknowledge that you can be productive with any editor. Really.
Btw. I just bought a new computer. Should I install Linux, windows or hackintosh? -
I always have to laugh when instead of 'public' I accidentally write 'pubic'.
Haven't found a single person that think it's funny though 😮 -
@pinoaffe I like how you put TempleOS in the list of sane setups.
Anyone who doesn't know it: Look it up, on YouTube (seriously). -
@blauesocke Do you not get stressed out by having so many items in the taskbar?
I used to do it as well, but it drove me nuts -
@franga2000 it's for a legacy application that only works in IE 🤐
-
You're not alone. This pisses me off even more than abbreviating variable names so you have no idea wtf it's for.

If you want to be economical:
JS has exploded thanks to Node and adoption as the only web language (not counting transpiled languages). So it's beneficial to have on your resume.
At the end of the day you pick the language/framework you use either based on economical value, because your in a team and that is the language or your personal preference.
If it's for learning. I'd rather pick based on which language you prefer. Do you like coding in Python or JS more? -
XNA is not an acronym
Ah... Good Times... -
How do I get my children out of a block?!?
Plz help! -
@theZorgEffect How about both? Get a nice back link to your blog from medium
-
I like how you concatted the sigh in your response
-
You should use the risk assessment system to asses the risk of using the risk assessment system.
-
Do it!
Your work will get more exposure, you'll make contacts. Also it'll benefit your communication skills since you need to explain your work clearly to others.
I'm planning on starting one too, so can't give you any advice on how to actually run it other than: Ghost seems like a nice application. -
To summarize what everyone said
You're not going to need it on most gigs. So:

@dfox The code thing sounds cool. Kind of like codesod on thedailywtf.
Then again people already post these with screenshots at the moment. -
I'm telling you, stardates are the answer.
