@irene yea I get it, and it's cool. only problem is that in the past few months employers became incredibly picky and unreasonable with their expectations. so playing it cool is tempting, but quite difficult at the moment.
-
@irene wow, the best way to make anyone want to work with you.
(not) -
have the feeling that you've been thinking you're speaking up, but you actually didn't. communicate your concerns, point it out, emphasize, not once, not twice.. it's not easy, but it improves important skills.

That book by Zakas is great :)
-
what's the source of all this volume control crazyness? I missed it
-
@leny just arrived to his github where the complete series is available. great stuff!
-
"I give zero shit about how great it looks". you just failed. you will never be able to create a great product if you don't care about the details. your programming poetry worth nothing if the result is even slightly different than a (good) design. small differences will add up, and what you think is a result of great programming will look like shit and worh much less than you think.

@cst1992 I have both and I recommend to get the definitive guide as well. It gives you a deeper insight into the basics of core javascript that the other book is lacking. you will use it a lot.
-
it's indeed not too friendly

don't feel bad for a second if you are not a designer. you have to know the complete specification, the target audience, you need to have all the text that they want you to place in the app. and then you can start thinking about the wireframe...
all devs suck at good design I think, even a lot of designers suck at it who have learned it for years. -
:DDD
-
@Jifuna yea but, it's a pair of beats, you know...
-
@tahnik deffinitely, I would love if they would add a pair of Grados.
-
beats headphones? I wouldn't spend even fake devrant points on them!

I belelieve I've discovered the majority of great music that have been produced by humanity since the 50s. I look at it as an achievement and I'm thankful that I've had the opportunity.
-
@h3ll we don't have pirates. it was deffinitely an archer riding a horse backwards.
-
I'm from Hungary but what is this shit?
-
@leny I know about it, but haven't read any yet. I was hesitating between the ES6 and beyod guide and another one on the same topic by Nicholas Zakas, and picked the latter. But thanks for the recommendation, I'll take another look.

@Letmecode I've seen and heared a ton of references to his book, The Good Parts, as the definitive go to book on JS, or at least they recommend it a lot as a first read. I've found it good, sometimes brief, sometimes brief and pretentious, but overall it was ok.
I've found Stoyan Stefanov's JavaScript Patterns a lot more enjoyable and useful. It was writen before the release of ES5, but that book is still awesome. -
I would have +1d if you wouldn't have said I'll deffinitely +1.

get out of your coding cave and be happy that you can show, that you can do better then them even in their field.
