@Root a good manager surrounds themselves with people who are better than themselves. You don’t need to fully understand every last detail if you have trust worthy people around you. I’m a hands on IT manager and have just recruited my own replacement as I’m going to focus on software. But I know many people who aren’t hands on anymore and are still brilliant managers down to their people, budgeting and being able translate into non tech speak skills.
-
Looks amazing I would be so much more productive with so fewer distractions like people. Lucky bugger!
-
@spoooderman but if you invested heavily in an architecture you don’t change if it works. Look at banks and fortran
-
@notroot certainly is.
-
Because it isn’t shit, it may be old but it’s a great environment to teach c++ as most colleges invested in it why change if it works
-
@Root why is it not? I’m neither for nor against just curious
-
I use post it notes

@BindView I actually spent ages talking to my wife about it having missed the bitcoin boat, we worked out that it takes about 10 weeks not including electricity, my wife was more excited about it than I was

I was going to buy some but decided to minimise my risk and buy some rx580s and mine it instead, I can always sell my graphics cards if the bottom falls out of the market
-
@Nivlagx it’s well worth doing, I was simulating multiple inserts and updates at a rate far greater than ever going to be in reality.
-
@Linux I don’t use vpn to hide me I use it to verify me. Because I know my vpn IP I can instantly recognise any logins that aren’t me.
-
I used to listen to metro FM in the 00s I don’t live up there now and use Spotify instead of radio.

What is your return on bitcoin mining on a phone?

I run my own vpn server and all my devices connect using ssl. Particularly for sensitive things like internet banking, administration.

It’s I managed to mine 0.02 Ethereum last week. A whole $20 at today’s price woo!!!
-
@Jop- how long have you been mining? And what were you mining?
I’ve just completed a week of Ethereum mining and I’m up £10 after deducting electricity.
I must add I’m only running one gpu to test the profitability, I plan to add some more in the very near future, rx580’s are hard to get hold of at the minute -
Wasn’t a complaint about windows as such more a vent my annoyance, the pc I’m using hasn’t been used regularly for 6 months so every reboot houses windows updates to
