@12bitfloat well the problem is that "Y" + 0 + "L" + 0 is valid syntax in most static languages. As far as disgust I have noticed it depends on where you come from much like food.
-
@LinusCDE yeah... Hence the complications.
-
@12bitfloat @LinusCDE the key is what you are doing with the result. If you are putting them into a string, then whatever, if you want the sqrt of "Y" + 0 then you have complications. If you are scared by this functionality you should use a statically or strongly typed language.

I would have done fortran/cobol is rolling stones, used to be popular and refuses to die.
C is Bach, obviously.
Java is Green day , and C# is Good Charlotte. You need to include a dig at C# v1 being MSJava. -
I remember a few years ago when I would work on Web page and look o it in both Linux and Windows, same hardware and screen. Firefox on both. And the site would render differently on both. It's all messy.

FIREFOX 4 LIFE, avoid IE 2.0
(yes I know there actually was an IE 2.0) -
@hjk101 not sure how many people use borne shell, but I suppose you are technically correct
-
@hjk101 if you look at the image the shebang is for bash
-
@Alice I would also like to note most of us know how to get out of vim on the first try... I'm told...
-
Doesn't that stand allow you to rotate the monitor?
-
Depends on what the set up is. My school had an exposed server for a shared learning environment, but the real stuff was secured.... Well supposedly, we made national news for that. I say we because I was part of that security.
-
Switch back to t9
-
Yeah... We all know how to exit vim, it's more when people stumble into it without doing their homework. Vim knowledge is assumed quite often with it being the default editor in examples and tools. Plus many novices (myself a few years ago included) have a lot of difficulty till they decide to learn it and go to a vim tutorial.

I don't know, I'm pretty sure it was a common theme in the history books. How Rome was built in anger for the lack of being able to buy Discord Nitro from the iPhone app. Ceaser conquered many people hoping they had figured out how.
-
Agreed that question should read NT, XNU, and Linux are A. Microkernals B. Operating Systems
Don't these test makers know anything?!? -
@KAS89 I hear ya, I'm not senior level but they have yet to bump me out of the entry level spot despite fact I am the go to expert in a few areas for everyone above me.
-
Your forgetting the most bestest most Superior language of all: HTML
-
My suggestion is work on a FOSS project you use at work. Build your knowledge of a tool you get use out of and give back to something you find helpful.
-
@aggelalex ... So what? The meme doesn't provide any context to understand it's scale.
-
Make an easy way for people who are laymen to report bugs? Hell in most cases anyone to report bugs.
-
My company just had a benefit meeting, forgot what it stood for, but the abbreviation was STI. Like how do these things get approved?
-
I like ThinkPad, but since Dell makes XPSs with Ubuntu (meaning drivers will be there) I will say xps.
-
I'm one of the few people on my team that uses CLI, but even I find gitkracken helpful when I get to more complicated situations and I don't feel like figuring out the right commands.
-
Not sure why this is hard, go to your boss: "if you fire me I'll give you a share of the money I'll make"
Minimum Viable Product here people -
@wawa way to jump to communism, it really tells me your grasp on this is really solid, and you would totally be worth debating the nuances of this with.
-
@-ANGRY-CLIENT- yeah I did... Please re-read my comment. I take issue not with his success and being rewarded by it but the scale, and asked if you were okay with it.
-
@-ANGRY-CLIENT- so has he worked that much harder then you? Or anyone else on this? I mean if bezos deserves his wealth in the 100s of billions for how hard he has worked I should at least be breaking a million.

I once networked some raspberry pis to demo a local pan Quake game to market my universities IEEE CS branch. Showing cool stuff you can do with computers is the best way to go, so maybe do some games or better yet make a demo people can use to "make" their own game

I'm sort of surprised it's that low
