    I'm sort of surprised it's that low

    @river226 true 😄
    also a good question is how many companies claim to use a blockchain where in reality they just use a mysql database?
  • 7
    The thing is, every software that has just a huge intelligence (even just with a bunch of if-statements) will be associated with AI.
  • 9
    @heyheni I'm gonna start claiming everything I do uses blockchain technology 😂
  • 16
    If/else isnt AI?
  • 4
    @heyheni well that’s one way to add blockchain to my cv.
  • 3
    @C0D4 don't 😆

    Shocked? No.
    Expected? Yes.
    They are just buzzwords.

    I will create a AI Craft Beer Brewery, that uses Blockchain technology. (Maybe just randomly add "Coldbrew"?)

    Can confirm from personal experience.

    @Maer okay, tell us more 😃

    @heyheni Once had dealings with a company who had AI in their name. Closest they came to using AI was classic machine learning (!= AI) and even that was merely a side project. Ended up being used for a thesis. They actually did web-dev.

    @steaksauce well, a subsumption architecture is basically only a bunch of if/else's, but the result can 'look' like intelligent behaviour.

    AI is a hole filled concept, technically any program that will cache data and the adapt itself based on that data is technically AI... It may not be self evolving or self learning but it's still AI by stupid definition

    @Maer thank you for your story! 😊

    Are you joking? 🤣🤣

    40% are doing this
  • 2
    @oreru exactly 😂

    This article just says people are stupid. The 40% are not companies advertising that they use AI.

    "As noted by Forbes, the claim that these startups are “AI companies” does not necessarily come from the firms themselves. Third-party analytic sites are often responsible for the classification, and it’s not clear from MMC’s report what percent of fake AI startups it identified were actively misleading their customers."

    @Maer well machine learning is a subset of AI, as is deep learning.

    @irene I disagree, but I’m listening...

    AI short for algorithmic intelligence
  • 1
    As much as I know, it's not AI unless it uses some algorithm to learn and make addition or modification to it's own source code and that's the last thing a developer want( unwanted modification to their code). It's assumed that just using enough if/else statement you make it so dynamic that it might seem performing operation on its own.

    Not surprising
