@FuckJava I don't know, Objective C is pretty horrible... Appropriate name though.
-
The letter spacing on that t-rex sticker gives me a rage...
-
@Nanos I want to know more about this. This eerily correlates with me / my experiences. Edit: The nordic thing i mean.
-
@netikras This sounds a lot like one of my anxiety related issues. I imagine lots of horrible "what if" scenarios in reasonable detail to the point that i visibly flinch or have the urge to puke. It's worst for me when walking over bridges or being in the front seat of a car. It's much more frequent when I am already stressed/anxious.
-
ADHD * laziness === I have no idea how i ever get anything done
-
@SecFreak The artist doesn't seem to make em anymore sadly. I ordered like 10 at the time but this was about 13 years ago maybe and I haven't seen them in years so probably threw them out by accident.
-
I had a similar experience that sent me back to webdev. Even though my current work project is for android, i can make an app way more easily with javascript and then wrap with cordova when i need android specific code or to package it for the play store.
That's right, my experience was so bad that I chose hybrid app dev over native!! (Cue mass hysteria, glass shattering etc) -
@PaperBag That's entirely the point! It was a satirical logo designed by a webcomic artist a long time ago (goats.com i think?).
-
Stack overflow is normally more of a shortcut to a solution than a solution itself.
It's good to see what people have tried and what people recommend, but my issues are normally specific enough that all i get from SO is new keywords to use or sites to visit in my search. -
100% with you on this. I can't estimate for shit even though i have been a developer for years!
A trick someone taught me was to take how long you think something will take and triple it for any estimates. Quadruple it if its bigger/more complicated than usual.
On the offchance that it only takes your original amout of time, you now have longer to do it properly, try out new technologies, improve test coverage etc -
Story of my life. If not for iOS, i wouldn't have to worry about creating a seperate app for my web bluetooth project...
-
Weird!!! Me too though.
-
@Yamakuzure Thats a good idea. I'll have to see how I can add that to my workflow.
-
Yes, but I am the sole developer on my team so i get the blessing/curse of noone to review my code.
I'd pay to have someone review my code once in a while, even a junior...
The imposter syndrome, it eats at my soul. -
@bahua This is what happens when managers don't know what they want. I guess I am partly to blame for not managing expectations better.
-
@ganjaman The Animate store in akihabara was the bighest let down for me. So many keyrings and posters for "in" anime and not much else. The pokemon centre was pretty great though! Food was amaaaaaazing! When i go back I will just keep eating until i run out of money.
-
The way I do this is to just find out as much as i can about the current solution and then if i still think my way is better, write out a proposal that objectively states what benefits it has over the current solution.
Being more familiar with one way of doing things is rarely a good reason for a change. -
This. * 1000. Except its not just questions, sometimes even passing cars outside completely derail my train of thought.
-
For me this is basically every time i leave my desk for anything more than a toilet break. Otherwise i inevitably commit but forget to push and then get really confused when my changes havent got past CI yet...
-
I hate to be that guy, but you really need to look for another job. Some things can't be fixed, or at least they aren't worth the effort.
-
Don't worry. One day you will be debugging a completely different issue and all of a sudden she will throw a stack trace of this right in your face.
-
@ganjaman I actually quite liked the train system. Very prompt and there are normally live updates of how many minutes away from the next stops you are (in the cities at least). My issues were mostly the language barrier (even after studying Japanese for over a year) and shopping for souvenirs. Went into so many shops that were full of the same boring stuff that even the biggest Otaku would have trouble getting excited by.
-
Japan for me was amazing and a bit of a let down at the same time. I hyped it up too much in my mind i think. I'm still dying to go back though.
-
When i need to focus i pop music on. Has to be a good tempo and have minimal lyrics. I am liking EDM and a bit of chillstep right now.

"it's the size of a single hair, only 5 macaronis thick..."
-
@ElizadeathRaven Well you can't have her i'm afraid. She helps me keep sane by having someone sensible to talk to after trying for the umpteenth time to explain to my boss why its difficult to implement a protocol thats undocumented and that he can't explain so I have to basically reverse engineer his code...
-
@ceee Yup! :D She started off as a plain blue duck I got for free when I bought a bath....
-
@CoffeeNcode Thanks! I think your duck is having a much better time than mine...
-
@seraphimsystems Never. Again.
-
I moved from iPhone to Samsung Galaxy, now i have a headphone jack but only bluetooth headphones...
