@R5on11c The problem is, from my perspective, the code always needs to run faster. Your idea about scheduling time to rector and optimize is a good one, though.
I'm not sure I understand how a linter would help in this situation, though. Care to elaborate? -
Welcome to the Arch linux community! Just so you know, you're now obligated to interject during any os discussion and mention that you use Arch 😉
-
@RememberMe What fun! I'm going to be starting a gpu raytracer soon, and I can only imagine all the things that will go wrong 🤔
-
This is exactly my workflow. Start working on a project, and two hours later I've taught myself how to write a systemd unit file to run my compositor as a daemon because it stopped working once. Relaunching it is one command...
-
@hch11 True, but I seem to have masochistic tendencies when it comes to programming. I decided for this project, for example, that it would be fun to try writing object oriented code in C 😑
(More fun in theory than in practice) -
That is good news. Enjoy it while it lasts. And when it stops working after the next update, remember these words:
"Nvidia, fuck you!"
- Linus Torvalds -
This made my eyes bleed 😵

@YouAreAPIRate
I can confirm that this works. Especially if you don't have a status bar running. Most people will wait awhile for it to load and tell you it's broken 😂 -
You know what this reminds me of...
-
Personally, ThinkPad for the battery life would be my choice. T470 especially can get 15+ hours. Arch is great if you have time to customize everything, but don't expect to be productive for about a week, and you may never be completely satisfied with your system again (always tinkering, etc)

American here. In order to work, you would have to apply for a green card as an immigrant worker. This might be the hardest part, and mostly comes down to how successful and educated you are. It will be much easier if you have a master's degree rather than just a bachelor's. That's only the first step in the 5-year path to citizenship. Can't say much about the process because I was a citizen by birth.
Also a student in Sweden. Beautiful country, I live living here. You can easily get by in daily life with just English, but some locals tell me it's harder to get a job without knowing Swedish, and that there have been a lot of immigrants in recent years. -
@Totchinuko it takes a special kind of bad taste 👌👌
-
At the end of the semester my web dev teacher showed us a bunch of examples of what not to do, and I've never forgotten lingscars.com 😵
-
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as a Linux wizard, is in fact, a GNU/Linux wizard, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, a GNU plus Linux wizard.
-
Java, just wrote some code,
Only used a single thread,
But there's too much overhead,
Java, i had just begun,
And now i have to start over again,
Java, oooh,
when did this project go awry,
I told my boss it would be done tomorrow,
What have I done, what have I done?
(I guess sleep doesn't really matter) -
Why would you do that to yourself??? 😱😱😱
-
I feel your pain. I once spent 12 hours wiping and reinstalling Arch. Network card problems, graphics problems, you name it. Finally got everything working, then bricked it trying to add a splash screen during startup 😂
-
I was visiting Åland and didn't have cell service for a few days, so somehow the time and date got fucked up and then this happened. I'd only this were accurate 🙂
-
@ThoughtfulDev ++ for smart gaps. Also consider binding a key or two to different presets, it's nice being able to remove, increase/decrease, or reset to my default on the fly
-
My favorite feature of i3 is the scratchpad, just thought I'd mention it here if you haven't used it yet. Perfect place to put things like local web servers when your screen real estate is crowded without having to dedicate a workspace to junk 🙂
-
Ahh yes, the good old days. Push, pull, and blame.
-
Yeah I've done the same 😂. I had four desktop environments installed while I was deciding which to use and couldn't remember which was which! Finally gave up an all of them and went to i3
