Id put forth the problem of the dying media empires: CNN or Fox; each are more and more desparately reporting inciteful stories as they grasp for ratings.

In contrast we're seeing youtube channels such as HowToADHD create new communities. The channel creators are supported via Patreon and compile short presentations packed with citations, debumking myths. An empirical dialog follows.

I do believe we should double down on supporting and enabling these kinds of new reporters, investigators and av-nerd teams.

Simply put, "no more need for the old empire"...
...is not burning it down...
...IS replacing old scaffolding with appropriate new ones.

a website called zkillboard.com for eve online figured this out. He politely asks you to disable it in a very small font without blocking entrance with a shit wall, and offers a means to log in and pay a nominal ammount of ingame isk for:
1) A badge of honor on your "profile" (your characters list of confirmed spaceships exploded)
2) Disables ads for several months

His advertisers do show some pretty grotesque click bait, but the eve community can handle nsfw; plus a good portion are engineers/tech savy so most blocked it by default.

Personally, there's no excuse to Whitelist ads. 3rd party content on your site is asking for malicious attacks it just tarnishes your reputation. I'd strive to provide content people want. I'm sure the zkillboard guy can now pay his eve a count forever with the ingame cash he's been given; but he's probably also footed a hefty bill for us for a long time.

That's the shitty nature of the monetization ecosystem.
