Summary

Automated Trading System for Stocks

Description
First of all, Merry Christmas I had mentioned this idea before in one of my comments/rants. I have some experience with stock market. But due to time constraints I'm unable to dedicate much of it towards monitoring the market. From my past experience and trials, I have developed a strategy to trade to minimise losses and make consistent profits. The idea is to take multiple trades and book small profits which wouldn't be manually possible; even if I had time, it would be difficult to find and place the trades as quickly, which may often result in missed trades. Hence the need to automate. This is still an idea. Whether or not it goes into fruition depends on the proposition I receive here.

Apologies about TECH STACK details. I'm not very knowledgeable in that area

I cannot really help you but I remember looking into MQL5 a few months ago, you should check it out.

I can do python... Sounds interesting 📌

lmao ive heard this idea so many times

“what if a machine could learn to trade stocks?”

good luck and ill be willing to review your code if necessary. this is probably best to be done in python, or java if you really need a compiled language.

If you traded cryptocurrency instead youd probably pull a lot more money for now.

Want help with some of the python?

    @codePatrol probably easier integration too

@calmyourtities I am not a coder. That's the problem. I began taking python classes but couldn't continue due to my day job.

And this isn't going to be an AI or machine intelligence kind of work. My broker provides with documentation to help convert the strategy into program and map it to fire orders through their servers.

@codePatrol I didn't know about cryptocurrency back then. No proper exchanges to trade CC in my country either

@GrizzlyMagnum if you’re posting on here than you really should be one of the programmers at least.

@calmyourtities guess I should take it to Upwork.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think wealthfront already does what you are asking for

Are you still looking for developers? I can help with the backend.

Automated trading bot that can consistently make money
... I've tried many years ago with MQL and forex but can't get anything.

The problem I think it's too big. You need ML, big Data, huge clusters of servers to process and understand all the non structured data. There is no simple algorithm that can just trade based on the charts... Otherwise someone would've found it already and it would have already been priced into the market... You need to consistently be faster and have more information than everyone else.

Nice idea, you are about 30 years too late. It has been done and it has been perfected.

What you are referring to is called high frequency trading. The bigger players in the space have been in this game for a long time. Heck, the game is done at such a scale, that the bigger players rent space in the exchanges in order to minimize the network latencies of longer cables.

You probably can't beat them. Otherwise you could waltz in Goldman, show them your model and pocket a several MM for letting them use it - with no effort on your part.

Well I did a similar project a couple of years back. I was working on it for around a year and a half. I used metatrader 4 for the logic. I tested it in pretty much every currency pair and every timeframe imaginable. I had reached a stage where it returned huge profits per year under testing conditions. But sadly in real conditions the script was marginally profitable. I terminated it after a month with a small loss... Metatrader is what you are looking for but don't trust it's testing feature. It is not very accurate.
