LifeMMO - make a MMO rpg like game out of real life

Project Type
Project idea
Summary

LifeMMO - make a MMO rpg like game out of real life

Description
The idea is to reward every day things. More points of done with others. XP for chores, working, socializing, etc. It'll have to be self enforced as no app can detect all these things. Bonuses for things like pictures or videos. Turns into a social network. XP can be spent in unique ways. Profile flare, coupons (marketing or income possible?) and so on.

Am thinking of something cross platform. iOS/Android and browser based for input. The applications don't have to be cross compatible (although that would make it easier), but it would have a common API (custom end user interfaces?)

    Check out the Earth online

@Sugar Sorry, not sure the relevance. Earth Online came up as an Android app with various webcams. Interesting, sure, but neither game, nor personalized to the player?

    Sample "Quests":
    Talked to a crush - 20xp
    Entered Friend Zone - 5xp
    Left friend zone - 100xp
    Play Video Games - 10xp
    Sleep 8 hours - 50xp
    Write 400 lines of code - 100xp

10% bonus expierence if opted into sponsered quests like:
At at Taco Bell - 10xp (Brand would have to pay for the marketing, etc. Prefer opt in, not opt out).

Everything could be compiled into a timeline, specific events could be marked private for exclusion. Bonuses for additional verification (GPS, acknowledgement by staff of supported venues, etc) These would be features way way way down the line, but it could go places.

@calmyourtities IRL Sims. XP for stuff you do IRL, not what you make a doll do. :D

you mean the app tracks what you do and you get in-game rewards for it?

Take a concept like zombies run beyond fitness

@demortes could be kind of cool, especially if you socialize with other people which use the app. maybe this will get people to get outside more often like pokemon go ^^

but honestly i think it needs some kind of game-catch, you know. if it just simulates real life, there wont really be any reason to play it (exept to collect in game money or xp) you should definitely have an avatar that you can customize and represent yourself with. maybe you can buy real life businesses (like stores, cinemas, banks) and earn money that way for example (brainstorming right now). and there will probably have to be something worthwhile you can do when you meet up and socialize. earn lots of xp? making an army of children to take over businesses with? 😂 or minigames or trading? collecting stuff... some reason that makes you actually venture out

I think there is already an app in the play store which does this ^^ Can't remember the name. Gonna search for it.

Already exists, but the apps suck imo.

The collaboration is more of a can we do it better? I didn't know it already exists and downloading it to see if it meets my expectation.

@simulate the concept of owning stores is interesting. Takes a foursquare approach to it. Worth fleshing out and considering

@Dacexi this is more Avatar based simulation. I wanted to focus more on gamifying real life. Activity tracking effectively. In a manner that respects privacy with opt in money makers to help maintain the platform.

@CWins has the app your thinking of been mentioned already? I wouldn't mind looking at all possible compitition and see where it falls short, where it excels, and evaluate if I could even do better.

    @demortes
Habitica for Example can't do things like "twice a week" which is not good for tasks done regularly, but not every day. Well maybe it can, but last tried it was not really good at communicating how to use it.

It would also be cool to gamificate todo lists. Microsoft Todo has different lists that can be customized and entries can be moved into the today category. This allows to use it as a shopping list.

Check out habitica. Happily using it atm

    I've downloaded habitca.

Forgot to finish my thought. Lol . It doesn't have an addictive component. I don't have an idea of how I'd make it better at this point but I'm not driven to use it like I am FB or devRant

Sounds like an idea a 12 year old with no programming skills or experience would come up with.

@HelloUglyWorld and your comment has the intelligence of a 4 year old. Now tell me which is more constructive?

    I’m all about gamifying life

I've looked I to the other items mentioned and sure enough I stopped visiting the apps. What's one thing that would keep people come back to the app?

Using this idea to play with Flutter, Google's new cross platform API. https://github.com/demortes/LifeMMO
