I am new to Ubuntu or any Linux OS and have been hearing a few good things about them.

So few days ago I decided to try out the Ubuntu 17.10, after which I installed Gnome Tweak Tool to customize the look and feel. After installing some themes and applying them I found the whitish bar appear as you can see in the photo I attached. I do not like it (hated it also when I used Windows). Please how do I make this go away as I have googled alot about it but cant get anything helpful.

I also have the issue of my Windows button not performing any shortcut task as before like showing the desktop screen (this now happens when I click the Windows buttton + A key)

Thank you all

sorry for asking this dumb question to you. Are you sure your wallpaper is stretched? It might be the desktop background color.

It isn't a dumb question and yes my wallpaper is stretched.

It would help knowing what it is called, as it is called taskbar in WindowsOS

Oh ok. On my xubuntu, they are called panel and we can just right click on them and manage them. Do you have access to Panel Management settings?

@mrlinnth no, how do I get those?

@n4y0d3v if you cannot right click on it, try look for Panel menu under your Settings.

You have also mentioned you used Ghnom tweak tools and theme, so try to look the Panel menu under those as well.

Or you might want to try the setting edit or the ghnome extension as mentioned here
