My Windows 10 managed to delete the partitions after the Anniversary Update. Afterwards I had to go back to Windows 7 for some time because even after reinstallation Windows 10 would constantly throw bluescreens.
Now it works fine again, and I have no idea why. -
Audy3657y@deadlyRants I really hope it's not gone because my windows partition is only 100gb, and the rest is 900gb which I can't access amymore
-
Audy3657y@runfrodorun hey I might not be able to access my main partition, but the new Creators Update let's me build things in 3D and Edge can save tabs for later viewing! I mean that's gonna come in handy, right?
-
Audy3657y@Lahsen2016 yeah looks like I just need to tell grub where the boot files are. Thank fuck, I have an assignment due in 2hrs
-
Audy3657yI'll call this a Schrödinger's update. You don't know if it'll fuck your shit up or not, the only way to find out is by updating
-
Audy3657y@DLMousey sadly no, it's a same HDD for all of them and W10 only gets 10% of space because I barely use it. But yeah, separate HDDs would solve the problem
-
Audy3657y@Skayo Neither have I, they been playing nice together for over a year and then this happened. @DLMousey that seems to be the case because after the update, Edge was pinned to the taskbar even though I unpinned it, and asked to be default. Also privacy settings reset.
I loved Windows XP but this shit is annoying -
bahua128017yIt was an incident with secure boot or DRM4U, or whatever Windows' territoriality bullshit is called, that prompted me to go 100% Linux a couple years ago. I haven't looked back.

Best approach?
Open Windows only when you really, really, really, really fuckin really need to.
Or just don't -
@rantalicious Because...... It breaks grub? Grub has nothing to do with windows, I don't see any reason for windows to play nicely with it.
-
Neoxas2387y@DLMousey I'm running a dual boot on my laptop and (touch wood) this has never happened to me
-
Forside14597yWhen I installed Linux next to Windows, but on a separate drive, I tried to get Windows booting from grub. Tried every instruction I could find and nothing worked. Ended up installing a custom grub that I could add to windows boot manager, to boot into Linux. Problem was, I had to modify the grub Config after every kernel update because the Linux just updated its own grub, not the external one.

lotd77757yAh what do we have here..A case of a jelly Windows installation, noticing other systems presence?..
It's not unheard of, for a Windows installation to lose their cool, when they suspect being cheated on...
Cases have even been noted where they destroyed the esp & boot records in the wake of their lovers trample..
For the autopsy, I suspect our victim is nothing worse off then a reinstall of boot loaders (usually covered in auto-repair procedures) can solve.
Windows: I need to update
Me: Fuck off I'm doing an assignment
Windows: Nah mate I need to update like right fucking now
Me: For fucks sake, go on then, but if you take longer than 30mins I'll delete you again
Windows: *Updating 25% done*
Windows: *Reboots*
*Grub rescue screen*
Me: Hello?
Windows: ...
Me: ...
Me: You fucking cunt
random
