Does anyone have a Microsoft Surface Pro? Do you like them? They look amazing, but are also pretty fucking expensive lol

I still use my surface pro 2, they became pretty cheap by now and are amazing for infinite canvas mindstorming etc.

I more than like. I had to switch the type cover though - faulty keys.

A dark type cover is best so it does not discolour.

Got one for work on construction sites, nice to simply paint in drawings. Dual boot was a pain but at least it works. Would recommend it for work, but for private use you get much better devices for almost the same HUGE pricing. Don't forget the dock is also very expensive but highly recommended

I've got a Surface pro 3. I was like you, thought they were the greatest until I tried gaming on it. This is the i7 model, can't even run Overwatch property on lowest settings.

The main problem is that it's a tablet, making it thermal throttle, and worse components.

I managed to install Linux on it though. Worked like a charm. I've tried Deepin, Elementary, Ubuntu and Fedora on it. All worked.

So if you want speed, don't get it. If you want it for non intensive programming and web browsing, sure, go ahead. I think it's portability features just don't cut it for me. I thought I would have used the tablet mode more than I did. For the same price you can get much better and more portable Ultrabooks and laptops for less 💰.

If you want power, consider a desktop.

So yes, depends on use. If you want information about the surface pro 3 i7 in particular, ask away 😉

I have heard that m$ had massive problems with the version 4.

But I can't remember the source so you should research that if interested in the v4s.

If you want to buy new in general, buy somewhere and some how that you get at least 2 years of warranty.

If you don't value warranty, buy used.
V2 and V3 should be available for reasonable prices and conditions.

@coolq I don't game, so that's the last of my worries.

If I were to use Linux, I'd use the laptop I have now, since it's a brand new one with solid specs.

And I'm aware the price is ridiculous compared to others, but the touchscreen and the possibilities with it are nice. (I've seen classmates just carry that around all day, and write their notes on it. Very portable and light.)
