Wake up, it's 1983...
Node? React? Copilot? Programming Socks? Furries?
Man, I told you to not drink so much the last night, now wash your face and grab a coffee, you have a program for the VAX-11 to finish.

@Kernel Same, I'm born in '98 but still feel nostalgic looking at old computers.
If I'll ever get an apartment big enough for a studio I want to put there some classic computer and terminals from the 80s and 90s.

I'd hate to go back to more primitive times permanently.

Uncomfortable to say the least socially, politically, technologically etc.
Still I'd do great on the stock markets so...

@MammaNeedHummus I'm conflicted on that: on one hand I'd love to leave behind some cringe developments of these last year, on the other I'd definitely miss some things.

Furries existed long before '83, like gay people, or telex machines. The coworker telling you to get off your ass won't have heard of them, but still: they're coming for your job one way or another. There may even still be one in your position in '83!

Though i definitely appreciate my wide, relatively, very cheap, access to hardware... i have an extensive skill/knowledge set that very useful and applicable... only in an apocalyptic or otherwise primitive situation.

Seriously, I'm fat, autistic af, shit immunology, a female minus reproductive ability, often annoying and quite physically handicapped w/ high maintenance (drugs&env). But... if we did end up in such a situation, I'd be an extremely valuable/cherished asset. I know tech hardware down to the literal bits, am a natural(and inherent) engineer-- physics, electrical, software(really all the *wares), exp with advanced metalworking, apparently a doctorate level of comprehension with Coefficients of expansion, especially with glass... which i can make from raw material, know a bunch of otherwise useless crap like actual binary and fortran. Add in my odd affinity for chemistry and consumption/retaining of media like the 3 sets of encyclopaedias i read b4 4th grade... id be a god.

I certainly would enjoy revisiting the times where my favourite OS (DOS 5.0.2) was still current. But I know I'm a weirdo... few weeks ago i started occassionally using WinRe on my laptop that has a preferred keyboard (typically only have 1 hand for typing so keyboard pref. is big) to focus while typing big texts and some basic code (plus reformatting and organising dir/file structures).
