jestdotty5529224dI worked for a consulting company and they wanted everything timesheeted
sometimes it got so crazy I would put into the timesheets that I was doing timesheets
I can't recall if they were pissed about that or not but I was sweating putting that in lmao -
jestdotty5529224dI'd fix / automate or multitask all the technical slowdown things
when I was made lead my work hours were actually cut in half and I somehow actually didn't decrease my amount of code output... because the managers were told my time was valuable so people only put me into meetings they actually needed my input for or just messaged me instead of a meeting. fuck that was rad
code reviews took up more time than coding, which I think makes perfect sense. if you're good at your job it makes more sense to build up little clones of you, and you're basically still coding but more "hands-off" and "slower" to your eyes (because other people will make decisions you know are dumb), though faster and more efficient to the company's eyes because objectively it is so
I may have viewed my job like I was a conductor of an orchestra -
lotd7775224dI prefer ticket/issue grunts because bot coworkers is ambiguous and may lead mgmt to consider replacing with AI, which from my experience just means more pressure and work for you.
AI seems like more throughput and efficiency from the outside but from my experience usually means less throughout quality work and less intelligent decisions. -

jacobers02dSounds like you're living the true dev lead dream! Where can I apply for a job where 25% of my time is spent doing something meaningful

Raymondd620hYour humorous workload breakdown highlights the challenges of balancing tasks as a dev lead. Streamlining processes could help reclaim meaningful time. Full cycle software development like those offered by Digiteum https://digiteum.com/greentech-soft... can address bottlenecks with efficient tech solutions, including SaaS optimization and automation to reduce manual tasks like time tracking or package management.
