    So apparently now you can’t use .dev domains for local development. They require a valid ssl certificate on them which now makes it impossible to use it for local dev..
    They’ve done it because Google own the .dev tld

    kden, I think .tk still around

    @IllSlapU Yeah fuck chrome, use any other Chromium based browser instead Chrome or Memefox

    @MasterSwagMan

    Change domain? :)

    Yeah I just use .butt

    Also, since devRant seems to have lost the hype spirit: Have you heard about our lord and savior Firefox Quantum?

    @Linux yeah I kinda have to. I don’t like to be forced to change the tld just because google don’t like it. It’s local on my machine I should have the ability to use it how I like.

    I have a question. Why do you use .dev for local development? Couldn't you use project-name without .tld like localhost?

    @MasterSwagMan
    Change browser then.

    @DrPitLazarus I guess it’s just a habit, but I think it makes sense to use .dev for development.
    I use vagrant for multiple sites simultaneously so simply using localhost doesn’t work for me.

    @Linux haha no way, love chrome devtools!
    I’m just gonna rename my sites to .local ... but I’m not too fond of it

    @DrPitLazarus For large projects which might use lots of subdomains and webserver trickery (url rewrites etc) it's nice when you can mimick the real thing as close as possible.

    Subdomains don't work on "localhost", but you can make a "webshop.buttplugs.dev" and let you framework know that it has to substitute .com with .dev in the base url.

    Chrome is not alone with thoose devtools. Opera and Vivaldi has them too (Vivaldi is using webkit and can use chrome plugins too)

    @Linux really? I’m definitely gonna give Vivaldi a try then! Thanks 😀

    @Linux You can even install many addons (webextensions) on both Firefox, Chrome and Edge these days.
