Someone went to HR complaining about never getting a lunch... We're told to work them out amongst ourselves and cover, but he's never once asked us to cover.

So now we HAVE to take lunch and we HAVE to make up that time by staying late or coming in early.

There are days when I'm on a roll and I don't WANT to stop to take lunch. It fucks with my rhythm and I end up breaking shit. We're all adults, why the fuck can't people act like it?

Is this a school or a business you work at?

How hard is it to go get food when you’re hungry 😕

In most countries there are laws that require you to have breaks.

If you dont take them and you hurt yourself somehow insurance might not pay.

In some countries lunch breaks are regulated by law. But that's not to annoy people who don't want to have a lunch break, it's to protect employees from employers who try to force people to not have a lunch break if they want to have one.

But aside from the legal part, in a good company that shouldn't be a problem, because as long as everbody is happy with whatever he is doing with his lunch break, it'll work out fine. But that includes not having peer pressure towards the minority (even if the minority is just one)

@jAsE Here in germany it's regulated by law, and in serveral western european countries as well.
But as long as there is no need for all to have a break at the same time, like line workers in a factory, usually nobody cares.

Employers are obliged to take care of lunch breaks and to remind their employees to have breaks, but as long as all parties involved are happy with the situation, everything is fine.

We're legally obligated to a 30 minute lunch, but employers can allow us longer ones. I'm salary, so my company has decided that, regardless of how long we take lunch, we must work for the 8 hours we charge.

@PerfectAsshole not really, but we have to come back from lunch, so we can't say we took it and immediately went home.

@jAsE it's more because people take 2 hour lunches, work 6 hours, and then charge for all 8.
