What kind of savage uses a 900kb background image in PNG format on a web app?!

Come on, it's 2024 and we have WebP, the users are in Africa with shitty internet connections, be a little more mindful of bandwidth.

Why would anyone care about users in africa?

webp is broken in many clients and keeps having viruses

or better yet, don't use a background image!

people visit websites for information!

they don't care about your 1080x1920 sized wallpaper!

I prefer my website to be black and white!

@molaram Because there are international mining corporations that hire locals. These corporations use psychometric assessments in the hiring process and local assessment administrators have platforms on which they conduct these assessments. Internet connection is poor in Africa.

@daniel-wu I agree, I rarely use background images. The system I inherited does, and I wish I could remove them lol.
