questions for those hard core lazy geeks, I'd like to try out raspberry pi. what's the most crazy use cases in you mind but yet no way to find time to do it? if I get rid of my laziness, I may do it, no promises😜

Set up a bunchof them and let them act as a build cluster for Jenkins/TeamCity

I would definitely use them as bitcoin miners ;)

Use it together with arduinos, automate your house.
Lights on when you wake up. Close blinds when the sun goes down.
    Things like that.

how about bitcoin algo trading engine? sounds sexier? mining bitcoin is sort of good old days game given not easy to harvest as usual. I'm new to this, but I guess the most use cases of pi should involve the sensors 😉 @SirWindfield

one of my colleague did it by using Google voice API to recognize command key words and turn lights on 😁@SirWindfield

Pfew i have a lot of ideas.
Automate home ( light, sound, heating, doors, walking fridge)
So that you can control every thing from your couch with your phone.
Create a better version of the walking fridge like fridge and a oven for your snacks.

Create a better car system, so that you can auto start your car in the winter and turn up the heater, so you have a nice and warm car in the winter.

I like something with sensors. I would like to do something where sensor detects an unacceptable threshold such as safety or slow conveyor and API's to an intelligent notification tool that contacts the appropriate people or teams.
Pi rules! We have a lot of Pi experts in the devRant community.

@loveyoupeng good because you can use slack as your raspi via api as control panel with a chat bot.

    here an inspiration

for smart home I think Google and Amazon already gives good solutions, and for cars I think we it should be cool, and need some UX geek to design a great UI and better responsive implementation to humiliate the car makers, it's a semi private environment a great place for voice recognition, pi is a good match 😎@yasuni

not sure if cross compilation is good idea especially for some special OS/hardware related features. as far as I know using pi as cheap hadoop cluster really rocks @ChappIO
