    Why not both?

I leave my work laptop at work, so I won’t accidentally do some unpayed work at home 😊
So everything I develop for myself is done on my personal laptop..

    Both
Work laptop generally stays at work and personal laptop for all my dev/home needs

@Andi I have been using my personal laptop at work for 4 years so that I work on the same machine/ keyboard.

Also the laptops at work don't have a FHD display so I always have to connect to a monitor.

Now my 4 year old laptop has some serious dents on its body and some damages on the hinge. Dell is charging almost 40-50% of a new laptop for refurbished spare parts. Ali express is cheaper but takes a lot of time to deliver plus I'm not sure about the quality.

    laptop Specs

    i7 4th Gen
    16GB Ram
    Nvidia 750M
    256 GB samsung EVO PRO

I'm not in the mood for selling this laptop it still works like a beast. I can buy a new one but won't sell this till it dies, because of the physical damages its not portable and I need to make a decision soon.

@FrodoSwaggins that’s some serious overkill but I guess some places are over protective.

I can’t do any personal work on a company laptop otherwise the company gains rights to it (pied piper style)

@C0D4 that's one of the reason why I use my own laptop.. Too much into silicon valley 😂😂

I'm not even sure if that can happen in real life

@wlan404 I think my contract was written by someone that watched it. Some of the finer details are just stupid.

Both. I follow the more screens the bigger my pay raise should be mantra.

@spky Exactly the same here. Plus I can play with the one at home

I use laptop at workplace to play game, and use my own laptop to do works, because the laptop at workplace is very fast and powerful and my laptop is very old. :))

I do not own a laptop, i have an i3 desktop for music stuff (home studio) and an x1 from work, I gave my laptop to my mom because i could not use it after enjoying the performance of a real one.

Anyway, will get a gaming laptop soon so I might install linux on that one and use it for my personal stuff.

I use my personal laptop for both. The one they gave me at work is.... lets say insuffisant *cough* 4gb ram *cough*

The only use I have for a laptop is work, so the one work gave me (a 2015 Mac) is my only one. My home machine is a full tower running Ubuntu. I develop for work on that too. Meaning, I connect to work through a reverse tunnel from my home machine, and SSH to whatever server has the code I'm working on.

I've been provided mostly desktops at work, then once a laptop when business continuity planning became an issue. Only once did I use my personal laptop for the office, and after I quit that job, I decided never to volunteer my personal things for company work ever again. Aside from the crap you're asked to install, you're pretty much burning out your equipment at someone else's whim on your own expense. So... yeah.
