I don't like contributing to e-waste. I also don't buy the "extended warranties" because most things I just repair myself.

My Dell died just short of two years. It is my work laptop, so I replaced it with a Framework, but I also wanted to fix the Dell. This was the process:

TL;DR ...I still failed. Hopefully the eBayed parts will make themselves into a refurb. After putting together a Framework, I can't see myself using another laptop brand ever. I hope it holds up.

    Just took a look again. The gpus in these are not great. Especially for $1600. The gpu in the Ryzen™ 9 7940HS benches slower than a NVidia 1050. I think they are cool, but not competitive.

    Almost everything is designed and built with planned obsolescence. The product breaks shortly after the normal warranty runs out. That’s what the extended warranty is for.

    @jestdotty I think they have battery tech "more" figured out on laptops. I remember early on they could catch fire and only a chemical extinguisher could put it out. But yeah, some of these batteries seem janky. Or the charging circuits.
