Fuck,

I've been charging everything with the oculus quest 2 charger because it's very powerful but it just blew up my headphones. I did this often before but this time was a whole night.

I hope I can still get this great headphones, it had such good volume & bass. It's the cheapest Fresh & Rebel but the sound quality and battery is great

    my everything charger is the raspberry pi charger
  • 4
    @feuerherz well, at least that one can't possibly blow up anything :)

    Imagine the shitstorm if that would happen with one of Apple's charger or device 🤡
  • 2
    @Lensflare ? If this would happen to an apple device, its badly made
  • 1
    @Lensflare apple chargers don't work on decent devices and apple devices don't work on decent chargers. Actually - it would not have happened indeed if I had an apple. But does apple even have headphones?
  • 2
    so, what were those headphones exactly? and are you sure that headphones that... _explode_ when charged are actually "great"?

    @tosensei https://action.com/nl-nl/p/... but you have them also with noise cancelling for just 5,- extra! I don't cary anything about that. Waste of energy. I actually want to be able to hear surroundings: https://action.com/nl-nl/p/...

    Edit: it's understandable that headphone broke. Normally a charger is around the 5W or smth. The charger is used is 33W

    I know it is hard to take it serious but it's the cheapest headphone I ever had (Normally i was in 50+ range, after 50,- the sound quality gets better.). I bought it for fun and was very amazed. It has sound quality of a 50,+ headphones. It feels very decent too because Fresh & Rebel makes normaly higher end hardware

    @retoor > I actually want to be able to hear surroundings

    i haven't yet seen any headphones with ANC that don't also support hearthrough (or however they might call it), which makes hearing your surroundings better than with "dumb" headphones.

    @tosensei I think i'll actually buy the noise cancelling ones. 5,- is nothing for such future. Maybe I come ever in a situation where it's preferred

    @retoor in trains it's a game changer 😁

    @retoor the pink ones look cute :3
  • 1
    @feuerherz yeahh! Found exactly the same ones in village center! Without noise canceling, that one had bigger ear thingies I don't like. The pink one wasn't available

    @feuerherz

    If this would happen to an ANY device, its badly made.

    You see my point?

    @Lensflare seriously don't agree to that. 33W is bit insane actually. It charges even my whole phone in no time
  • 2
    @retoor i think there has to be some kind of standard for chargers and devices to prevent the device from being fried by a charger.
  • 3
    @Lensflare i was just starting the shitstorm already :P

    I wonder if thats an actual issue with the charger, or the device receiving the charge?

    @plgonzalezrx8 the charger just did what it supposed to I guess. It normally charges a way heavier device and the headphones were batshit cheap, so they're probably the problem. But I was happy with them and found the same model again today and bought it. Ok, I had to buy it for the second time, but still two-three times cheaper than the other headphones I normally buy. So, it's ok. Still fan of the headphones

    my 500$ headphones been finicky recently and I'm scared what if they're breaking 😭

    their sound quality is amazing. the charging wire is frayed by now. they get finicky when connecting to Bluetooth now and have all sorts of weird bugs. the little charging / status light also quivers now. I refuse to accept this. I assumed I'd have these for like 30 years!

    @jestdotty it stopped working, didn't explode and don't seem so. Will send them Samsung Note 4's. There was a GTA vice city mod that you can throw Samsung Note's as grenade

    @jestdotty "my 500$ headphones been finicky recently and I'm scared what if they're breaking" -> exactly! That's why I love my old refurbished x270's. Cheap, reliable. Doesn't matter if it goes to hell. Even got in stock. Will just buy it again. Btw, i just splashed a drinking can over it. I started to suck as a maniac on the keyboard.

    What headphones are worth 500,-? Would really like to try tough. I did try the expensive bose ones, one of the first with decent noice cancelling (a feature that i don't like). Natural sound is great, but my headphones have a slight bass boost that I love. That's it, the headphones are just my sound preferences . Also, the volume is quite high

    @retoor https://amazon.ca/Sennheiser-Moment...

    seems they got a 4th model now that's cheaper

    someone at work was grifting off my work and pissed me off by trying to inappropriately blame me for something so during some secret Santa game when I got a stupid apple TV and they got some Sennheiser headphones I convinced them to trade me and those Sennheiser headphones sounded so good I ended up buying these when I got a new phone and it didn't have a headphone jack (so I needed something Bluetooth)

    they're kinda heavy so you can't go running with them though. but damn do they sound nice. it's actually trippy, I keep thinking they're real sounds and then I have to take the headphones off just to check a lot of the time lol

    beats the apple earpod earphones I was buying before for 50$ only for them to last 1-2 years. if I bought 7-15$ earphones they died in 2-6 weeks and sounded like traaash

    @jestdotty I bought my 15,- headphone as joke too, would also expect it to die in two weeks but I needed headphones back then and there's not much choice in my village. Thank God it became my favorite ever.

    I also had a few senheisers but in the 50-70 range. My dad has PA microphones from senheiser. I grew up with that brand. It was originally a microphone brand afaik
