    e.g. https://reddit.com/r/LiminalSpace/...

    ...for some reason some people find the large, empty spaces of the Mario 64's castle disturbing.

    I never had that impression, though.

    Too colorful areas.

    Unlike the hotel in The Shining w/ the twins beckoning you to play with them...

    I think nintendo games as a general are ugly and dystopian so I guess

    liminal spaces are nice though. they're not always dystopian... sometimes they have 70 layers of backroom friends

    I think of a lot of liminal spaces as homely. they remind me of back alleys I used to hang out in as a kid. if the adults bitched too much on you being a kid who climbs trees and over concrete walls and on roofs then when you find the forgotten spots between concrete buildings and nobody knows they're there... it's like. your own room.

    @jestdotty You have quite an interesting take on their predominant art style.

    ...&& I find no problem w/ that.

    @D-4got10-01 yeah I always felt it was too cartoony and cute to be disturbing other than the castle feeling empty but overall nothing stood out to me. Even the haunted mansion
