...for some reason some people find the large, empty spaces of the Mario 64's castle disturbing.
I never had that impression, though.
Too colorful areas.

I think nintendo games as a general are ugly and dystopian so I guess
liminal spaces are nice though. they're not always dystopian... sometimes they have 70 layers of backroom friends
I think of a lot of liminal spaces as homely. they remind me of back alleys I used to hang out in as a kid. if the adults bitched too much on you being a kid who climbs trees and over concrete walls and on roofs then when you find the forgotten spots between concrete buildings and nobody knows they're there... it's like. your own room. -

@D-4got10-01 yeah I always felt it was too cartoony and cute to be disturbing other than the castle feeling empty but overall nothing stood out to me. Even the haunted mansion
Was reading about super Mario 64 and liminal spaces….ill never look at that the same again
