    Google is scary. No.

    @Root I'm with you 😊

    @gitpush it was a scholarship program being offered by Udacity along with Google for courses on Udacity. The applications closed back in December and courses started January 10th.

    @Root it's not scary look at all those friendly and inviting colors!

    @virus200 That's what they want you to think and then bam they steal your data but hey a person is entitled to their own opinion.

    @virus200 I'm in. Good luck!

    I am! Currently on lesson 3. I can only do it some days during the week and weekends

    @ThaOneDude bro, no need to fear Google , they already know your exact white blood cell count, for instance. No point in hiding from them. ;-D

    @ThaOneDude I mean it's also 2018 there's not really much data privacy left in the world. Get used to it.

    @virus200 or, you know, try to do something about it. 😡

    @Charon92 No clue yet haha. I do want to do something 'special' but idk yet, suggestions are welcome!

    @virus200 (@Root) this is going to sound harsh and I'm not trying to attack you or anything but that's bullshit. Do you know how easy it is to keep your data away from the big companies?!
    Browser: open source one with tracker/adblockers.
    Email: encrypted service like tutanota/protonmail (easy to use and free)
    Search engine: ddg, searx.me, startpage
    Messenger: signal/riot/tox
    Plus a vpn and tor.

    Oh yeah it's so fucking difficult!

    @Charon92 Non-encrypted chat, me?! :P

    So... Wait. Does Google actually employ people after a couple udacity courses? Because that's what this suggests.

    @Charon92 Protonmail is email, not chat :P

    @Charon92 I'm not a protonmail user though, Tutanota one ;)

    I do use protonmail and I think it's really good. Honestly, I didn't think I could find such good quality outside of the "typical" market (google, hotmail, yahoo, etc). Highly recommended as @linuxxx suggested (even though he's not a protonmail user 😁).

    @CyclingMatt I don't really recommend it haha. I like tutanota way better :)
  • 1
    @linuxxx I don't know that one. But protonmail is good. Why is tutanota better? Present your case 😂

    @CyclingMatt I like their support, their interface and their features more!

    @Root let me know how that works out for you

    @mzeffect it suggests nothing of the sort. Google just sponsors the scholarship for the courses. They even tell you directly this course will not get you to professional developer level but it's a good start.
