My company compromises SSL certificates in the name of "security". I can't even use Gmail because Google has identified my intranet as a malicious network executing a man in the middle attack. So they break security in the name of security.

@heyheni they have a security team that shows up when people do things to get around their protocols like using a VPN. It's and older company with a dated IT protocol.

how in the world is that more secure?

My team suffers from MITM attacks from our own network all the time. Most of the time it's because the people working on network/firewall teams are incompetent and don't know how to properly maintain a network. They also love to spend millions on security appliances that they don't know how to install or use... Ugh, fml.

I think SSL scanning is a good thing, because then you can stop viruses and such at the perimeter. The OP only needs to import the company root in the browser.
