    @lxmcf @Torbuntu @Kryptic0

    What's the best CPU and RAM we can have for a personal computer? You guys seem with enough experience to share your knowledge. 😬 (Most cost efficient suggestions are the best)

    Sorry for free-riding your rant @jhh2450

    @Torbuntu well i wouldn't recommend anything other than a Ryzen CPU at the moment, I would recommend a 1700x if you have the money, the 1800x is a bit of a waste in my opinion and I would recommend 16 GB of ram.

    The combo of great multithreaded performance and high ram should be great for development.

    @Torbuntu that's my plan, go for the 1700x, overclock it to match the 1800x and job done πŸ‘

    @CurseMeSlowly Nah you good. I was planning on extending my original question tomorrow lol

    i7-4790k, well affected by Meltdown and Spectre, 16 GB of DDR3-1600 RAM.

    @irene Worry not. Mine is old as well. πŸ˜…
    (I5-670 & 8GB of ram) Really want an upgrade. But you know how money works.

    @lxmcf i would recommend a CPU from ryzen 1500x and upwards but if you don't have a graphics card go intel and buy a i5 and upwards. for RAM, minimum 8GB in most cases you won't need anything higher. but it all depends want you do on a computer to know what specs you need.

    Intel core i7 2nd generation (i don't remember the whole number) and 12 GB of RAM (for vms).
    But my next build, as everyone says, will be with ryzen.

    Does anyonw knows if Ryzens are available for laptops?

    I7 7700k OC'ed to 5GHz

    Q9550 3.4Ghz overclocked, with 8Gb of 800Mhz RAM, as that is the max the motherboard will allow.

    In the future, when I can eventually upgrade, I'd like a 16 or 32 core CPU with 64Gb of RAM or more, depending upon my budget then, but that isn't pencilled in for another 4 years !

    Other computers here have a 486 / 75Mhz, a 2.4Ghz P4, a dual PIII, some 8 core I7 with 12Gb of RAM, an I5 2 core something with 4Gb of RAM, several ARM cpu machines.

    Ryzen 1700x @ 3.9Ghz, 32gb ddr4. I love it, fantastic performance and multitasking, plus just the aesthetics of 8c/16t....so satisfying
