3 monitors. Love it or overkill/excessive?

I love it. Helps me stay organized.

I can't imagine working with less than 3. I'm working on getting a 4th. --- 3 monitors = 2 code monitors and one Google. Or one "test web project "

I've done 4 laid out horizontally. It sometimes hurt my neck. lol 3 seems to be my sweet spot.

I work with 3 in the office, and 2 at home. Most of the time I only need 2 but for new web builds 3 is a godsend

I use 3 at work, and 1 at home - but I'd prefer 2 at home for projects

3 is what I'm going for at the new setup at home. On the left I'll have the website/app I'm wokring on to see changes live. On the middle the IDE, and on the right a vertical one for browsing.

At least 15 times a day, I think to myself "A third monitor would make this so much easier"

2 monitors no longer pleases me.

I work on 3 at work. But I only use the 3rd for just incase/reference purposes. Mostly it has the terminals running in it for grunt watch/linting and nodemon for whatever project I am working in at the time.

At home I work on one screen. Mainly because I am just using a laptop in bed or on the couch. The multiple monitors are nice but I found I am just as quick/effective working with one using window key bindings.

I work with two 40' 4K monitors since last summer. Upgraded from four 24 full hd monitors. It is a gorgeous setup!

@ranter - how do you manage multiple open windows on that large of a monitor? Say you wanted 4 code files open on a single monitor. Can you do that easily? Is there a window frame snap feature/app?

@champion01 Mostly I work with sublime text and have a custom grid with 7 cells. But for other programms I use BetterTouchTool for window snapping. I switched last year to OS X so it is a OS X tool. But i used one under Windows, too! I think it was Display Fusion. But I'm not 100% sure.

Ranter - thank you! I have toyed with the idea too! I'll look into those solutions

3 at work: iMac in the centre with IDE, browser on the left, other stuff (team tools etc) on the right
Supplemented with an iPad Mini that I keep my time tracking stuff on
Working on getting a vertical monitor at the moment but I'm already the first person in my office to get another screen, so might be best not to push it

3 is ideal for me both at work and at home. Laptop in middle for browsing. Left IDE and right command line and preview/testing. I further like using mac multiple desktop views for various other things which i can switch too easily. Also tools like spectacle for organising multiple windows on one screen.

I remember the days where getting a second external monitor at work was a great hassle.

I can get more done but sometimes have to search for the window that should be opening

for straight coding I'm good with two, but when I was cutting up psds and cranking out WP child themes I really wanted a third.

2 at work, 2 at home. Had 4 before, but always one screen more or less empty. Also, my back and neck are getting worse.
