If you work for an employer that requires or even suggests you work during this time, this is called a bad employer, not American work culture.

@BobbyTables lol funny story. My boss's boss (department manager) saw my teams status was green and told me to log off for in his words 'at least a few days' so maybe my boss is just the problem

My boss was shocked I got six weeks off for having a newborn. He thought I’d be out for just a few days. 🤦🏻‍♀️

@Root in LT moms/dads can take up to 3 years of vacation after having a newborn with guarantees that the work position will be preserved [or an adequate replacement offerred] after it. 2 of those years are paid by gov [not 100% salary tho]

+1 month for both parents after birth. Also paid.

It's a legacy of soviet union, but it's a good one imo. People here often complain that gov mistreats people, that it's impossible to live here with dignity, that we have to slave, etc. But the truth is that we have soooo many perks that other countries don't. Soooo many good things and the so-claimed mistreats are only exceptions or cornercases to the general well-being

That’s how it should be, honestly. It would allow parents to raise better children, which would improve the country as a whole. Why isn’t it that way elsewhere? :(

drawbacks:
- living close to the red bear [geographically; that's RUS]
- language is more difficult that EN [but much more flexible]
- greenery is everywhere and air might be too clean for big city folks from abroad

For anyone curious his surgery was Monday. And yesterday he was able to stand with the assistance of a walker

Physical therapist still going to try and slow the little monster down for his own safety. But he's doing great

Getting annoyed at me being there everyday though. Tells me to go to work. But sorry buddy I can work wherever lol

I am going in later in the day rather than right at visiting hours start just so he thinks I'm not spending all my time worrying
