In university we have to code using ruby. It's likely the most useless and ugly piece of shit programming language I have ever seen (apart from VB). Why can't we use something useful like python?

i would agree that Python is generally more useful than Ruby. But ugly? useless? It remains as one of the most productive and prominent languages for the web so I would really not call it useless. There is something to learn from every language dude! And you can always try and just do Python on your own. You will probably learn better that way unless you are into having dedicated teachers for it even tho it is sadly not the case everywhere.

@TobyAsE you can be happy with ruby.
In University I had to learn Scheme. That is a useless and ugly programming language.

@AleCx04 Ruby becomes usefull only with Ruby on Rails for web development. ;-)

@sklafg you really don't know what you are talking about in both Ruby and Scheme :)

@AleCx04 what is your opinion about Scheme? :-)

@sklafg The same as my opinion regarding all the other lisp dialects: its a fantastic language. Depending on the implementation you want to take on. i am more familiar with Racket and Guile but prefer Lisp dialects such as Clojure and Common Lisp.
