TL;DR — Never ever use work chat to gossip about work. NEVER.



Just some minutes ago, my boss asked a mate to move aside from his computer and began checking out some docs.

By the tone he used, I assumed something was wrong, I stood from my workplace and went to grab something from the kitchen. Came back and he was looking through a thread in slack between a mate and another work mate.

I thought he was going to send something to himself but then he asked me if I could help printing out the screen. Took a quick look and they were talking shit about him.

Now, it'll be an awkward silence until I go home and those two stay to argue about that thread.

Sheez.

    We were explicitly warned at my last place that slack messages were considered company IP and as such subject to being read at any time.

    Nobody paid any attention mind, we all still had a good bitch 😂

    Well, idk, even its work chat it's still "pivate". Sneaking into private channels is "wrong".

    Never talk bad about your work infront of anyone at work, keep that shit for your self and talk about it infront of someone OUT SIDE your work, you never know who will snitch on you one day :)

    In germany it's regulated by name if you use an account or email which isn't bound to your name it can be read else not

    @Artemix It varies per jurisdiction. In the Netherlands, your boss is not allowed to snoop in on browsing or communications until there is probable cause. If your significant other sends nudes to your work email, your boss is not allowed to take a look — but if you send nudes to a customer who then files a complaint, he can.

    @iKameo then 10 GG and 88 TKG regulates it and the boss can't read it anymore but they can be special occasions where the employee has to show mails but I think only if the mails can prove that he violated states law
