Hey curious... what motivates everyone to code?

I've actually finished a few apps to get rid of some pain points at work...

and cuz i wanted to do some real coding...

Actually this may be the first time I've actually written any personal code this year...

So I guess for me I just have to be pissed off enough to actually bother trying to fix something.

    My motivation?
Because it's something I'm not complete trash at :^)
Also, I like to make stuff that can ease up my (and others their) life

Money. Because food and bills don't pay themselves.

For me it's always been a hobby even though I earn money by doing it. Maybe it's because I actually like it.

@panda-roux @Vip3rDev @mzeffect so no money, no code?

How would you rate your experience and code quality?

As someone who used to dev for Toyota this concept of Ikigai and Kaizen (translation: continuous self improvement) are both really, really awesome especially when the whole company culture lives and breathes it.

One of the best Agile dev shops I've ever worked at.

@Vip3rDev Toyota?!?! wow... I always got the impression (unless it's Tesla), Auto makers don't do much tech other than what's needed like a barely working and slow Nav system and a DVD player

@billgates Websites. All car company websites are enterprise level beasts. The agency I worked with was the in house dev shop for Toyota and we operated under their same company principles.

Back in the days it was pure interest in coding itself and languages. Therefore the code quality was pretty bad mostly, but that's something you realize later, with more experience.

Nowadays it's money. And as you said, trying to automate some stuff at work.
