enoon4237yMe: *hits X button*
Skype: *proceeds to minimize*
Me to Skype: “y’know, if I wanted to minimize, I’d have hit the - button...”😒 -
Sourcerer537y@dontbeevil i 100% agree with you
Skype is shit for hundreds of other reasons but not this one -
Sourcerer537yIirc you can even Set it in the settings that if you press X i'll close completely.
But i guess that's to Hard to do / find for a cummon user -
sheepz2857yand even that more simplier then make their other messaging product works.
MS teams i fu-cking hate you!! -
If you don't like the slack app you can always use the browser right and enable desktop notifications
-
sheepz2857y@dontbeevil Come on, its really bad product.
it has really buggy (almost not usable) mobile app. the desktop one keep freezing, delay notifications and really lame UI.
[last one is subjective i know]
I'm using MS visual code on daily basis, so no open bills with MS. -
@sheepz Visual Studio Code is not a Microsoft Product. Skype is. I use VS code everyday but I avoid visual studio. It's more like a free software that is more open source geared.
-
sheepz2857y@dontbeevil yeah, you are right. Teams is awesome. You are awesome. Have a awesome (like you) day :)

enoon4237y@irene I can’t speak for everyone on the “other side” but my complaint was much more referring to unwanted behavior than difficulty in closing an app.
I don’t actually use Skype that often but it opens on restart. The first time I noticed the new behavior of minimizing/running in background when you hit “X” I was surprised because to me it seemed like unnecessary functionality. Every now and then I still hit the X expecting it to close, lol. It’s just an inconvenience not the end of the world.
I’m no exception when it comes to saying silly things or doing silly things but I don’t believe this is one of them so I needed to clarify. -
enoon4237y@dontbeevil okay... well, my complaint wasn’t about whether or not it opened on startup. just what I consider unnecessary behavior when you hit the ‘X’ button.
But I can see how annoying it would be to have an app open on startup even after disabling that option. -
what makes skype a jerk? Even when logged off the close button is really useless. File > close is also useless. Oh look it's hidden on the system tray

In Yahoo! Messenger (RIP Yahoo! Messenger!:'( ), under the File menu you can either choose close or exit.
-
Byomeer22067yLeft Skype because it used to freeze on my old Win7 machine. I could not close this shitty app AT ALL.
The X didn't respond. Same goes for right-click and exit on the Skype icon. Fired up taskmanager with admin rights: close the application (or the according process structure) would do exactly nothing. I even tryed taskkill -f in admin cmd. No fckn chance to get rid of this window. Got the feeling that Skype merged with the kernel...
One day i finally uninstalled it and never used it ever since. -
mampf1837yWorst is OneDrive. Not quittable by design, comes and starts with Windows.
Im so lucky I use vim on Linux. Definitely. -
Fabian10136yRecently my workplace forced Outlook and Skype onto us. To minimise Outlook into tray, I have to use the minimise button. Skype goes into the window bar then. To minimise Skype into the tray, I have to click the close button. If I click the close button in Outlook, it exits. To exit Skype, I have to right-click the tray icon and select exiting there. In Outlook's tray icon context menu there is no exit option, I have to open and then close it. Why consistency if you can make every single option different? Ah, btw, minimising Outlook to the window bar is impossible.
