py2js27657yHoping git branching and not bit branching. Either way he should be familiar with that already

Brolls31157yI’d actually step out on a limb here and say you shouldn’t be so mad that they don’t know git.
Not every dev has worked in environments or been exposed to it.
Most of the places I’ve worked, I’ve been the one to introduce them to git, and have even done in-house workshops and training for.
And for a user coming from a SVN or TFS (old school TFS) background (which most corporates are still using), it can be an extremely alien environment to now work with.
The GUIs go some way to resolving that, but we all know the real usefulness is on the CLI, and that is a lot of rote memorisation and concepts to remember.
Hell, I still end up googling certain things because they’re not constant occurrences, I end up forgetting them.
Be wary of the “Pshaw.. they don’t know {insert x here}” approach. Unless it’s something truly fundamental, then you’re not enabling or assisting your colleagues as you should be.

We hired a new senior dev. The lead architect is going over basic bit branching and commits with him. This new job already feels like a dumpster covered in petrol.
