Starting working on a Windows Universal version of DevRant for my windows buddy so he could enjoy the hilarity, and so I could have a native client on my desktop. Then I realized the API is read only. Sad day. @dfox any possibility of having a registration process or something for devs to post to the API?

@Willyb321 I'm using it as an opportunity to learn UWP. Another stack, another day!

@Nexion Ah, well in that case, carry on! I'm sure it'll pay off in the future.

You can post to the api. I will create a spreadsheet in about 6 hours when I wake up and am at university ^^

@SirWindfield oh really? I can't find any decent documentation on it. I'm just going off of a JavaScript API that I found.

If you ask @dfox really nicely, he may share access. ;)

Yeah, we do have an API for writing but there really isn't much documentation and it's not officially public. I generally discourage the use of it because there are security issues with third party apps asking people to input their usernames and passwords.

However, for the Windows Phone situation, since we don't have any official app, I've helped in the past when people have tried to build it because I think it would be nice for Windows Phone users to have an app even though we can't really support it ourselves.

Personally, I would think it would make a ton of sense for you to work with Jakub, who has already created an awesome devRant client for Windows Phone (https://twitter.com/jakubsofficial/...)

Maybe reach out to him and see if you can contribute?

@Nexion I am just getting acquainted with the anniversary update. I wouldn't mind teaming up for a client. That is, if @dfox doesn't mind us having access.

@dfox Are there any plans on implementing an oauth flow? That would certainly fix the issue with having users entering their credentials on some client app.

@dfox I hadn't seen that. I'll take a look. I was trying to go the universal app approach to have a native Windows desktop client along with the phone app. I would be happy to create the official unofficial DevRant Windows version though :P
