Local IT company proposes to give talks about the basics of web development in our school for one and a half week.

>"And now we're going to learn more about JavaScript."
>"The first thing we need to do is to import jQuery in our webpage."
>Literally no mention of plain JS.

this is why jquery is still not dead...........

    I think one big reason why VanillaJS is not popular at "beginner courses", because browser vendors fucked up big time following the ECMA standards or implemented functions in their own way, which lead to JS frameworks having to wrap these functions so they work on all browsers.

    @Null-Device Same reason I bash on PHP. Well, one of the reasons. I'd definitely take Perl over PHP.
