Might be a coder who has worked a lot with Python before. I use a lot of spaces after Python even when writing js.

Indeed, also as I switch between two environments spaces are much more consistent between different IDE:s.

There have been a few instances where the tab key could not save me from the mess of code that I had created in python. instead spaces had become mandatory

What if I told you there's a setting in each sane editor to convert tabs to spaces of whatever count you like? Also, tabs(\t) may be useful, but if you end up on Windows without a sane editor, heavens help you..
