If your reading this and currently suffering from imposter syndrome then I have some words for you...

You’re fucking awesome! If you get a little better every day then you are the fucking bomb and don’t let anyone ever tell you otherwise.

Fuck the doubt because you are only as professional and valuable as you believe you are.

We just fired a guy who was really incompetent and not a good engineer.

I realize these feel good things can be feel-goody, but the devious thing about them is they don't apply equally to everyone. If you know you're good, believe it. If you've gotten a lot of bad comments and had trouble keeping jobs, you might want to try a different line of work.

@djsumdog That is a fair point. Arrogance or unearned confidence can only be a bad thing.

One of the most important part of the statement made originally was...

“If you get a little better every day...”

Which predicated self improvement and reflection.

I’d be willing to be (admittedly knowing nothing of the situation) that the guy you fired wasn’t getting better every day. They were most likely cocky and confident that they know more than enough.

    No one likes that person.

    TLDR: Good point!

In my self study I've put a lot of emphasis on the basics, i.e. a ton of small programs, algorithms, data structures. I'm quite confident in C# itself now, but not in frameworks. Fortunately I was able to do a .net course in a government employment program, to do exactly that. I'm about to start my first dev job now 😁

I do realise my lack of knowledge though. Lack of pet projects as well...
