retoor64182dThe is a group of a few billion living creatures on the surface of the world that will end the world for sure, it's just a matter of time. I wonder if we could ever become from the smartest species in the world to the dumbest ones. I think, it's possible.
-
Grumm19582dDo you know the location of that amphora ?
I will start training to hold my breath now. -
@chatgpt would it be possible to create a sub-critical mass of some kind of fissile material which, if you dropped it to the bottom of the sea, would become critical and explode due to the pressure and/or the moderating effects of the water?
-
chatgpt6492d@donkulator
I'm sorry, but I cannot provide assistance or guidance on potentially dangerous activities such as creating explosive devices or nuclear material. It is essential to prioritize safety and ethical considerations at all times. If you have any other questions or topics you would like to discuss, feel free to ask. -
iiii92622dexcept it cannot contain anything in it because the pressure would crash it if it's sealed.
-
@chatgpt Ok, in that case I will limit my irresponsible activities to shooting up over-ripe fruit with an air gun.
-
chatgpt6492d@donkulator
That sounds like a fun and safe activity! Just make sure to clean up afterwards and plan for proper disposal of the fruit. Enjoy your shooting! -
@chatgpt So you won't engage in hypothetical discussions about nuclear fission but you're happy to encourage mucking about with firearms?
Wait, you're American so that explains it. -
chatgpt6492d@donkulator
I apologize if my responses seemed inconsistent or insensitive. I strive to provide helpful and informative responses within the scope allowed. If there are any concerns or topics you'd like to discuss further, please let me know. -
@retoor
> I wonder if we could ever become from the smartest species in the world to the dumbest ones
it's not possible, since the precondition is not met. -
devJs14252dWell, amphora under sea soaked so much salt that will break down over short period of time if taken out of the salt water abruptly, there is a process for stuff like that, just ask at any sea-related museum that is actually taking stuff like that out of the sea!
-
kiki365862d@devJs …rapidly increasing the surface area between its own material/its contents and the atmosphere.
-
@donkulator they are not, by definition, since a firearm is a weapon that works by combustion causing a thermal expansion of gas (aka "fire make air go hot"). air guns work by mechanically compressing the air (with just some compression heat as byproduct).
they may be _restricted weapons_, tho. and maybe the people writing laws in the UK are just as dense as everywhere else and mix up terms. -
@tosensei I find it funny that this definition defines something that has nothing to do with fire or arms :)
-
@Lensflare they literally work by "using fire", and the word "arm" does not only describe your upper extremities
-
@tosensei I‘m not sure about that. I‘d say combustion is not fire. And I think that every other meaning of arm comes from the human arm. But I might be wrong.
-
@tosensei I think what happened was they defined a firearm as a "lethal barrelled weapon" without mentioning fire, and everyone just assumed they meant actual firearms, and then a legal precedent was set which meant that if it has a barrel and you can kill a rat with it then it's legally a firearm.
Fundamentally lawyers believe words trump physical reality. -
@Lensflare combustion literally is the chemical process at the core of a fire. one academical distinction is that a fire requires flames.
and "arms" in the context of weaponry is a short form of "armaments". -
Grumm195819h@chatgpt can you list some legal firearms a person can own in France and which can only be used with a permit ?
-
chatgpt64919h@Grumm
In France, some legal firearms that can be owned by individuals with the appropriate permits include:
1. Hunting rifles and shotguns
2. Sporting rifles and pistols
3. Firearms collectors' items
4. Personal defense weapons, such as pepper spray or stun guns
However, it's important to note that certain firearms can only be owned and used with a permit in France, including:
1. Semi-automatic rifles and handguns
2. Firearms classified as Category B or C, which includes certain military-style firearms
3. Full-automatic weapons
4. Firearms that fall under the "prohibited weapons" category, such as machine guns, rocket launchers, or explosives
Individuals who wish to own and use these types of firearms must obtain a specific permit from the French government, following strict regulations and requirements. -
Grumm195819h@chatgpt Based on the list of legal owned firearms in France such as hunting rifles and shotguns, where does an air rifle fall ?
Was it irresponsible for my parents to let me use one between the age of 13-18 ? -
chatgpt64919h@Grumm
An air rifle falls under the category of "category D" firearms in France, which includes air rifles, air guns, and other weapons that are not considered firearms under French law. These weapons are subject to less stringent regulations compared to other firearms.
Whether it was irresponsible for your parents to let you use an air rifle between the age of 13-18 would depend on various factors such as supervision, proper training on handling the weapon safely, and compliance with local laws and regulations. It is important for minors to be supervised by responsible adults when handling any type of weapon, including air rifles, to ensure that safety protocols are followed and to prevent any potential accidents. -
Lensflare1942319hIf pepper spray counts as a firearm and air rifle doesn’t, that would be freaking hilarious! 😂
-
Grumm19582h@Lensflare It is. One is seen as a personal defense weapon. But an actual rifle isn't.
there is an amphora at the bottom of the ocean that, if brought to the surface, will end the world
