Not only are Apple updates free, and always have been, their current major OS release was free. The 2 before that were $19.99. And before that $29. Dafuq is dis shit.

I'm amused by those stating their Apple updates are free. Nothing is free. You paid for those updates in advance when you paid a 50% premium over the real cost of your Apple device. That's the only difference between the Apple and Microsoft update strategies. And even Microsoft has changed their approach somewhat of late.

Linux on the other hand is mostly paid for by various corporations who pay devs to work on it. So they recoup those costs elsewhere with higher prices on stuff.

@AshMountDigger seems like you missed something, I just dont want to be rude.
you can download macos from apple's website and install it in virtual machine and thats too without paying any thing.
p.s. some medicines are expensive, any clue why?

@rookiemaverick not legally you can't, at least not in most countries. The Apple license does not allow install on any non Apple devices. Yes, I know you can still make it work, but its a violation of the license and therefore technically illegal in most countries. At least that was the case last I looked earlier this year. So you're still paying their premium,or you're violating the license.

@AshMountDigger may be at licensing part u r right, I never take the pain to read any license as apart from macos I use opensource for everything

@rookiemaverick you should always read the licenses. Even open source doesn't always mean free to use, at least not for commercial usage.
