I know very well what you're talking about LOL
My computer reboots a couple of times whenever i turn it on cause it tries to install Windows updates ... Failing every single time
I tried everything to disable updates, even brute killing wuauserv (the win update service) and preventing it from starting again
It does seem impossible to stop it! -
@binarywriter it pretty much is. I used both Windows and Linux until a while ago when Windows updated and then completely fell the fuck apart afterwards. Wouldn't boot and just black screened. Lost so much work because of it and I was furious. So I wiped it and installed ElementaryOS on it and it's been a fantastic change. So now both of my laptops are just Linux. Trying to convert my wife off Win10. But she says Linux scares her.

Should I mention how the upgrade to Bionic Beaver killed my Bluetooth reconnect feature for my headphones?
-
@AndSoWeCode that sounds shitty, but also fixable. There was no fixing my win10 after that update.
-
@AndSoWeCode remember, bluetooth and wifi are probably on the same chip, using the same antenna... Ubuntu + WiFi = Nope
-
@n00bn00b I've already spent hours, and i do mean hours to even try to make it work on artful. Now it's broken again, with another problem.
How much time do you need to reinstall Windows in the rare occasions that it fucks up completely? -
@AndSoWeCode I don't know what do you use for bluetooth but just try "apt-get remove --purge package-name" and then install it again, for me it would be something like "sudo apt-get remove --purge bluez"
-
@D3add3d that's like reinstalling it. It won't work for me. I have to configure it. Configuration is now broken. New research required
-
@AndSoWeCode the rare occasion? The last time I had a stable and reliable Windows install was back on 7. And hours on a reinstall usually unless you got an SSD. I think Ubuntu is your problem in general lol. Like Elementary is Ubuntu based but it hasn't given me the same issues Ubuntu has.
-
@n00bn00b I haven't had reasons to change or re-install my OS for years. The only reason was moving my SSD from an Intel-based laptop to an AMD-based desktop. No BSODs, no driver issues, NOTHING. And it's not only me.
In my experience, computers that had problems with Windows had faulty hardware that also failed (differently) on other OS.
