So it's the latest thing. So people think we should build all sorts of idiotic things with it, just because it's the latest thing. So people think it "solves" a problem, when in fact there have been tons of ways of solving such problems, blockchain is just one of them. So it's quite easy to come up with plenty of stupid tech questions around blockchain.

It's a pretty intelligent concept though. Created its own techno-fetishists.

@xroad It's a P2P Certificate Authority. AFAIK, a CA holds a very large, very hard to compute number on your behalf. Whenever someone wants to know if you are you, you give them your public number, the person sends it to the CA and the CA then attests that you are who you are based on this hard-to-compute calculation. Blockchain is the same thing, except everybody is the CA. Oh, and there's also a ledger, so everybody can see everybody else's validations, which is analogous to having a CA publicise the list of people that has ever tried to see if you are you.
