Calls himself web guru... all he does is WordPress

Welcome to devRant! He should broaden his web skill sets. Probably not a pro.

Apparently "guru" nowadays means "noob". Have seen people calling themselves "guru" with even less knowledge than Wordpress.

@Jumpshot44 problem with people who believe they are gurus, they know everything they need to know, why would they learn anything new...

Be thankful he's not called himself a "Wordpress Expert".

What I hate is when someone refers to themselves as a web developer, but actually they are a web designer.

Since they have never written a plugin, class, component etc. and simply have used css and html and made minimal changes to say a wordpress theme and now they are a Web developer.

There is too many Web developers out there...

@masterbetty Yep, all too true. Have met people who call themselves "Wordpress Developers" whilst networking. After having the obligatory meeting with them it turns out the most development they've done is to make a custom function that allows the user to type in a placeholder that generates the html to produce a font awesome icon. Guess it all follows on as the entry barrier to throwing together a basic Wordpress site is scarily low.

But maybe he wasn't referring to his coding skills, but to his 1337 skills in finding places on the web? Like a Web surfer pro kinda thing?

Is he my college professor?

Hey I am pretty good with Javascript and jquery, worked with vanilla nodejs and php during my development. I am a web developer right? I know sql and git and love command line too. @masterbetty

Guru means: "They don't know how I've made that website. Neither do I."
