Honestly, fuck Lenovo.

First it's taken well over a year and my phone's not gotten 8.0 yet. And now my phone no longer vibrates. I've had this for less than a year and the piece of shit has broken already.

Last time I'm giving this trash excuse of a company my money.

    @AlpineLinnix Does it have Oreo?

    Maybe it wouldn't have broken if you didn't use it as a personal vibrator internally, at full strength, and daily.

    @AlpineLinnix Not really. All I need is a decent storage and an up to date OS. I'm tired of all these companies promising updates but taking two fucking eternities to update their shitty to mediocre devices.

    If you want a good phone you have to pay $600 it seems. Fucking hell.

    @AlpineLinnix I want something that comes with 8 and will get 9. 32 is enough, but only if I've got an SD card slot. If not, 64 is necessary. Ram doesn't matter, I rarely do anything that takes up a lot.

    Mine is the Moto G5. Cost me $250 last June and it's already starting to break. That's pathetic.

    (Also, I had the Moto E2 before this. It was going to be "updated". Bullshit. It's still running the same version it came with 3 years ago.)

    @AlpineLinnix bought it unlocked from Amazon and didn't buy a warranty, if I remember correctly.

    My parents offered to buy me a new phone or a new laptop last year, since both were in the $600-$800 range (flagship smartphone). I went with the laptop and settled on buying this piece of crap phone with my own money; afterall, spending $250 for it beat paying $800 for a new laptop.

    If you always want the newest OS you either gotta get a Nexus/Pixel or flash it yourself. That or go the iOS route. Mate has a crappy iPhone 4s but still gets the newest iOS.

    I heard Nokia also updates you multiple times, not sure tho.

    @gathurian Looking at a pixel 2. Fuck it.

    I want a pure Android experience anyways.

    (I don't expect updates the moment they're available, but come on now. Their flagship Moto Z is JUST getting the update. That's sad.)

    @Stuxnet Yeh, I dont like the Pixel phones either. I love me my expandable storage and headphone jack... Once my Sony shits itself, I'll probably get a Nokia or a OnePlus.

    Sadly it's usual to only get one major update, two if youre really lucky with Android. Many around me bought their phones with Android 6 on it and wont be updated to 8.

    @gathurian A pixel is the best bet for updates. While I love my expandable storage, 64gb is enough. I don't take a lot of pictures or videos and use Spotify, so like 400 songs is only a few gb. Headphone jack is something I'll miss, but a nice phone is something I'd like to have for a first time in forever.

    I think my samsung s4 is still among the most well-rounded devices there is. I've got oreo, sd card, headphone jack, and nfc. I would have upgraded but every phone on the market seems to have some downgrades.

    my xiaomi mi 6 is great, tho most redmis are also nice. they all run oreo and at least mi 6 has 64gb storage, 6gb ram and the battery lasts an entire day of spikes in intense use vs normal use

    @Stuxnet i'm going with ~200€ phones and lineageOS. Works great. Systemupdates every two weeks.

    @Proximyst I'm pretty sure most Xioami phones aren't compatible with my carrier.

    Found a Pixel gen 1 in a decent price range that I suppose I'd accept paying for. (Older device, but has a headphone jack so that's a necessity)

    @KittyMeowstika Ehh. I've had poor luck with non-flagship phones. Time to have a nice flagship phone for a bit.

    @Stuxnet do as you please. I'm using a oneplus onyx with lineageOS for a few years now.
    I don't have the money to pay 600-800€ for a flagship smartphone nor do i understand why i should do this.

    @KittyMeowstika Hence why I'm getting a gen 1.

    They're no longer $600

    $300 for a refurbished with a 90 day money-back guarantee. It's only $50 more than what I paid for this shitty Moto G5 plus and it's a lot better.

    @Stuxnet what kinda ass carrier limits per vendor/model
  • 1
    @Proximyst They have shitty networks in 'murica so the phone must have specific bands.

    While I like my thinkpad I think lenovo shouldn't have entered the mobile market

    Xiaomi Mi A1, has android one so expect updates (at least now it has android 8 and the latest security patch), it's cheap ~250€, looks decent for that price

    @setrofex Yeaa it's not compatible.

    Lotta kick ass phones I like but aren't compatible with my carrier.
