    Or be like my linux teacher:

    So.. Umm, we got 6 months... Well, I won't teach you any linux in that time so here, grab this "doc" file (that actually has whole scripts just fragmented) and write 4 simple tasks.

    .... Lectures NEVER happen after that ....

    6 months later:

    So, as you were learning about linux - we can finally write some useful stuff. Okay, who's going to explain me how linux kernel works? .... *silence* .... Nobody? Okay, minus 3 points for all of you (from 10 max). Anyone want to write a bash script on the board that replicated X file system and compiles it at different location? .... *silence* .... WHAT?! Nobody learnt that? Seriously? None of you passes.

    Walks out mumbling as of "why he wasted 6 months teaching us"...

    @krz1 i wish this wouldn't be true but that's what you get from lower grade universities and colleges :) went there and never again
