@AlexDeLarge Neat, most of my collection is scotch from birthday gifts like my Cù Bòchan bottle and my 10 y/old Ledaig.

Been branching out in burbon, and eyeing a bottle of jameson. Any favourites you have?

@oudalally Thanks for the reccommendations, had myself a small bottle of bulvanie that I've finished recently.

In return for that, I'll recommend some too:

The 10 y/old ledaig is a good one, It's the first whisky I had, It's a peaty one with medicinal herbs and spicy peppers taste.

Nikka Coffee is a pricy one, but it is worth it in my eyes.

The Buffalo trace is a good burbon with quite the history behind it, It's alos not that expensive, and is a sweet, toffee & caramel tasting one given the rye in it.

@AlexDeLarge I've not tried any cogniac or brandy, but I'll keep an eye out for any cheap stuff.
Cheap stuff isn't all bad, I got a supermarket brand Islay whisky for my birthday and it was great, I'd say the same with the buffalo trail stuff too, it's about the same prices as jameson.

@oudalally That it is, it's one that I really like.

Highland Park 12 is another good one, I don't remember too much about that one as my dad got me shitfaced whisky tasting last christmas, but it's a good one.

My favorite drink is water and shutting the fuck up. I feel like my life is about as fun and interesting as a rock.

    A particularly boring rock.

@AlexDeLarge Thanks for the mention 😊

I don't know many whiskeys, unfortunately. (I'm a shame to my heritage...). I've had more experiences with scotch, and despite trying many expensive and very smooth scotches, I can conclusively say that I hate it. (Sorry, I can't remember their names. Most were in Scottish Gaelic, unsurprisingly).

However, I can definitely say Jameson is quite nice. It's cheap, it's very smooth, and it tastes like unsweetened carmel. (Best straight.) I love it. Oh, the 12-year Jameson isn't noticeably better than the normal, so I wouldn't bother unless you're curious.

Anyway, from the looks of this rant I think I have a few things to try!

@Root That's fair. I'll give you another recommendation to take with you, 12 y/old glenfiddich is a good one, I can't really remember anything specific about it, but it's a regular scotch around the world.

@AlexDeLarge I've actually visited the distillery on a tour with family, It's a really lovely place.
Been to a few actually, one of the perks to being a scot I guess 😃

@AlexDeLarge I've never had any of that, is it good?

@electric-ghost That'll be something for me to add to the list.
Might get the rum or whisky with it.

@oudalally That looks pretty good, I remember having a cocktail at a street food place, a mix of the nikka coffee and another nikka whiskey with ice, and I'm not sure what else they might've added to it, but it was orgasmic.

I think the place is called "Ramen Daiyo".

@oudalally 👏😂 That made me laugh

@electric-ghost Not sure if it's the same place I'm thinking about, but it's somewhere along queen st road

    @oudalally @PreyK Indeed.

@ChachiKlaus So Jacky D's is a "Rockstar Developer", what is a ninja developer? Jim Bean?
    Fireball Whisky?
    Vodka?
  • 1
@ChachiKlaus That'd probably be it. From what I've heard, japanese whiskey is comparable in quality to scotch, from what I've tasted, It's some good stuff. Pricey, but good.

Oh and one more before I turn in for the night, from what I've heard, monkey shoulder is very good.

That Buffalo Trace is the best Kentucky Straight Bourbon you can get. Excellent choice.

@oudalally Jack is great for cooking!
    Not so much for drinking.

Homemade jack bbq is totally awesome. Absolutely recommend. I've also used Jack to flambé shrimp/etc. or to add a little flavor to steaks. Apparently it goes well with cherries (e.g. jubilee) too, but I haven't tried that yet.

@Root Gentleman Jack is quite tasty. No. 7 can thin paint so only with Coca Cola.

    @datawraith Bleh.
For cheap mixed drinks, spiced rum and Dr Pepper is much tastier than jack and coke.

@Root That sounds like a sorority girl drink. 😜ðŸĪŠ
